If you have things like orange juice and sweet acidic things for breakfast it's a bad idea to brush your teeth after. Brushing rubs the sugary acids into your teeth. It's best to eat a piece of cheese to neutralise it.

Really? The "rule" I'd heard was to brush your teeth after eating anything (the optimal thing, anyway).

    Ok... I'll remember. Thanks! :thumb:
But then, when is the right time? Hours after eating the sugary stuff?

the sugary stuff is still damaging your teeth, just brushing makes it worse. The eating a lump of cheese neutalises the acid.
I think it's around half hour to an hour before it's safer to brush.

yep or put toothpaste in your mouth with saliva (spit being neutral and toothpaste alkaline will both help to neutralise the acid, thus keeping corrosion to the minimum

Where do I get the saliva from then?

Would like to add I have awful teeth. I mean, I brush them, but inside they have decay. The dentist thought I was eating sweets 24/7 but god knows why really, because I know people who eat a lot sweets than me and have 'beautiful' teeth. It's really depressing, she gave me 4 fillings last time at £30 a go :(
