    i find this new law to be incredibly poorly executed. One of my big gripes about it is that it seems to have come about largely because of the mum of someone who was the victim of a violent sex crime, and IMO basing laws on the emotional rantings of someone personally affected by a crime isn't the best basis for legislation.

    Even leaving that aside, I think that this will do absolutely squat to stop violent sex crimes, but possible quite a bit to create both extra police work, and criminalise people who just like to get a bit "kinky" during sex.

    If two consenting adults want to spank, splice or otherwise injure each other during sex, I don't see why they shouldn't be able to, and I don't see why they shouldn't film it and show it to other people, or why those other people shouldn't be able - horror of horrors - to download and view it.

    I mean, jesus, you're really cracking down on the wrong end of the spectrum here.

    Except its not like the censors are going to be there with the cutting scissors snipping out scenes, the videos will be banned full stop. Or if censors you mean police would you accept because in the course of investigations they can watch stuff such as snuff movies, child porn and bestiality you should be able to join them?

    Bearing in mind that Parliament isn't actually sitting at the moment, the law hasn't been passed.

    Our beloved Govt have only announced that they intend to bring in a law. Of course, as usual, it's unworkable and the "offences" are already covered by existing legislation. Still gets their piss poor performance in other areas out of the headlines...

    That's bollocks. How are they infringing at all on your right to have the opinion that this stuff is unacceptable? They're just preventing you from inflicting this opinion on everyone else (though almost everyone else has this opinion anyway so I don't know what you're bothered about). For God's sake, they're not gonna be showing this stuff on BBC 1 any time soon. You've got to specifically look for this stuff on the internet or in an adult shop.

    violent porn doesnt necessarily just mean that though does it? I mean we have bondage images and stuff and so do a lot of people. Just because someones into BDSM doesnt mean they want to rape and kill people. I think this new law is fucking stupid and making a new law over hysteria about one case.
    Even if you could prove there was a link with this ONE man and violent porn making him do what he did, that doesnt mean it should be illegal for everyone else. its already illegal to rape and kill people, how far do we need to go to remove possible root causes - it could have been any number of things, and it still wouldnt mean it was going to make other people go out and rape and kill.

    Same for weapons, military, violent movies (none pornagraphic)

    So people went and recreate what they have seen in Natura Born Killers, should all violent movies be banned?

    Some kid killed themselves cos their tamagochi died, should we banned all electronic games?

    Some teen killed his mate after playing at the game manhunt, should we ban video games?

    You see people smoke in movies, smoking kill, should it be banned?

    Anyway, you get the idea...

    BDSM IS ok though Sophia.
    Noones saying its ok for people to be abused, and by all means better regulate the porn industry, stop the traffiking of women, sex slavery is bad - totally, but "violent sexual images" is just too broad a thing to be banned. Its unfair and its making criminals out of people who dont deserve it.

    well sophia, if you feel chased out, I dont think thats because anyone has chased you out, and i think P&D will be a lesser place without you here.
    As for NMMs jokes, hes always doing that. I can see why youd be pissed off with it and not think its funny, but i really hope its not the reason youre going
