CIA director is out. Why? No reason...

Here in the UK, under this utterly dreadful "New Labour" government, we've become increasingly used to the pathetic spectacle of ministers never resigning when they do wrong. When we discovered paedophiles were working in our schools, Ruth Kelly did not hand in her notice. When we discovered Two Shags might have been using government offices to bonk his secretary, he did not walk out with his head bowed in shame. When we found out 1023 criminals, including murderers, rapists and paedophiles had not been deported at the end of their sentences, Charles Clarke handed in a "phantom resignation" as it's been dubbed. We were told he'd offered his resignation. It emerged he had done no such thing.
Only on Thursday night was Margaret Beckett talking on Question Time, defending his (total absence of) honour. Yet on Friday, he is out. The only reason he went was because the incompetent Blair sacked him, and rightly so. I feel nothing but cynicism and contempt at this stage for our rulers. I look elsewhere for salvation, if for nothing else to take my mind off UK politics.
Across the pond, President Bush has announced that the head of the CIA is stepping down, but states no reason why. Says Aunty Beeb: "No reason was given for the move, which was presented at a hastily arranged press call at the White House, where the two men exchanged compliments. Mr Goss has served in the role for less than two years, since being given the job of reforming the agency after a series of intelligence failures. Mr Bush did not nominate a successor, but said reforms of the CIA would continue." >> More on this >>
How incredibly strange. No accusations of misconduct or incompetence have been made, yet the head of the CIA, a somewhat political post, has abandoned ship. This after less than two years. The White House will not tell us why. What a bizarre contrast. Where ministers would never resign for any reason whatsoever in the UK, the head of the CIA suddenly leaves of his own accord for no reason. Expect more speculation about this in days to come.
We live in such a strange political environment at the moment, don't we?

Be sure that critical posts like this will be filled with another neocon ideologue in due course.
we allways have mate.
Shaking up the CIA would be like a Foreign Minister in the UK trying to turn around the Foreign office. It just doesnt happen, ergo the man has thought "fuck this, im not going tobe the fall guy the next time Bush, cheyney and Rummy fuck up!" and he has jumped off the ship.

Hardly the most neutral of sources, but its being widely talked about in the American political internet. Cunningham's parties could easily have as big as an effect on the 2006 elections as Abramoff, if the Democrats play it correctly. I doubt they will, but you never know.
