2 hours is too long for a nap, it just makes you sleepy. For you to feel refreshed you need a 20 minute nap. Just drink coffee and remember for next time to get a bit of kip in before.

Won't the bath just make you feel sleepy? Showers are far better for waking you up

Really if you're working nights you need to stay in bed all day if you can- that means staying up late the night before.

I didn't mind shift work, I quite liked going out for my dinner at 3am and standing in the cold night air with nobody about.

I just had trouble sleeping if I stayed up too late- if I wasn't in bed by 10am I wouldn't sleep.

For the record, one litre bottles of red Bull are your friend.

you'll stay awake, you'll have to. my mum used to be a nursey type person and do nights and sometimes people would have an hours kip.

if i can stay awake stacking shelves then you can stay awake looking after some old people. just sleep it off the next day.
