    well obviously you dont put stuff on there you dont want other people to read, as you add people specifically. you can choose for ONLY those people to read it, and no anonymous people or anything. personally, theres some stuff i would prefer anonymous people that i didnt know to read than people on my friends list. you can set up groups though so some things, only certain people can read. or you can make it private so only you can read it. i prefer writing my livejournal than my proper diary now actually.
