Case Studies request from the Mental Health Foundation
Mental health Action week is an annual event running from Easter Sunday each year. As part of this Mental Health foundation will be releasing a report on alcohol and mental health. We would like at look at how millions of people use alcohol to self-medicate, and the cyclical effects of using alcohol to deal with depression, stress and anxiety.
We would like to include testimonies of ‘ordinary’ people who have lived experiences of the topic covered. We are looking for fairly mainstream experiences of meeting and managing alcohol problems in daily life.

We are currently looking for people with a story to tell. We are especially in need of young people (18-25).
Interviews will include:
Interviews would include a full exploration of why you use alcohol, other factors in your life that may have contributed to use and where you are now and organisations that helped them manage alcohol problems.
As far as possible, we would like people to be willing to undertake media interviews (with guidance from MHF) which means you would be willing to discuss your experiences with a journalist, although, if you were particularly worried your real name would not have to be used. You would not be contacted directly by journalists this would all be done via MHF.
This should make a real difference to how these issues are understood and we really want young people to speak out.
