funny The Sun story

a guy got fined £50 for checking his mail as he left home, and chucking it in a public bin, which then had someone from the local council search the bin get his info and send him a fixed penalty notice


is that what this country is coming to :lol:

    Not surprising really, why there even bothered about this issue with todays worlds problems i dont know.

    I'm glad to see that you looked at a copy of The Sun someone left on the tube, and didn't spend your own money actually buying one. :p

    Actually I have heard different versions of this story. The guy says he put a few pieces of junk mail in the bin, which yes, sounds ridiculous to be fined over. However, I've read other reports where the council state that an entire bin liner of mail, plus empty food packets etc. were all dumped. The bloke could have at least put them in a recycling bin. I don't know whether fining him was a bit extreme but saving up your rubbish instead of putting it in a wheelie bin is a bit wrong.

    So in other words the story could be completely overemphasising the facts they want, and missing out others? Sounds like the Sun to me...or in fact pretty much any newspaper for that matter.
