    It could well be. I thought it had something to do with the law, food safety laws aren't the same now as they were in the 1950s, for instance. Best before dates weren't introduced until... 1963, I think. (not certain on that)

    Ive got a chocolate mousse in the fridge that was best before the beginning of feb. i really should eat it soon or itll be no good!
    I ate it last night - best before date 9th february!

    it was fine :yes: tasted perfect, and it didnt make me ill or anything.
    dread to think of the preservatives in it thatd make it last that long without the milk going off.
