    CTRL Z -suspend current process
    CTRL ALT KEYPAD+ -change screen resolution (effectively magnifies the screen)
    ALT X -emacs execute-extended-command
    ALT F1 -change to virtual terminal
    CTRL ALT RIGHT -next desktop


    CTRL ESC, u -shutdown MSWindows

    As for me, I like Esc... Only because it's nice-shaped on my keyboard.

    That was what I was thinking of, but I'll cover and say I do use lots of machines without X, and I heavily use virtual terminal on them (even on my X boxes, I'll often be logged into a handful of the virtual terminals)

    number lock/caps lock/scroll lock are my favourites. they must be the most important or they wouldnt have lights! on my computer they also make a sound even when my speakers arent plugged in, and ive never worked out where it comes from - thats the coolest thing about them.

    Scroll lock is stupidly useless unless you're like a coder or database pro :p

    And it comes from your PC speaker, usually found at the front of ur pc tower :p
