Maybe your pulling it too tight? Just a suggestion, but I dont thing piggytails are for youngsters or "schoolgirls" whatever. I see women with them all the time at the gym, they look alright.

ive tried loads of other styles and i always end up with a headache, but with the plaits its loose and at the same time at the bottom of my head and doesnt have to pull any top bits in order to stay in the plaits....
with a ponytail or something, it has to have a certain amount of tightness in order for the band to not fall out and therefore it pulls on top bits, which seem to give me the headache!

animal behaviour science. we get clients come in with their problem pets and if we want to sit in we have to dress smart, hair up, no jeans or trainers etc

You look really nice with your plaits. Illora- plaits are NOT only for children. Plaiting is an african tradition that children and adults male and female follow thank you very much! Plaits get a bad rep, cornrows are often percieved as a 'gangstar' or ghetto look whereas in reallity they can be beautiful, intricate, and neat for all hair types but especially afro.

Blah: when my GROWN UP braids are very long and therefore heavy, I do a special trick when I put it up, if I didn't the front hairs and top hairs pull my scalp raw. I can't actually remember what I do, and I took my braids out a few days ago. It's somthing to do with making the ponytail twice. I *think* I section off the top, put the underneath in the ponytail, then put the top section over the top looser, split in the middle to wrap two sides underneath the existing ponytail, then use another bobble to secure. You need to have the first bobble infront of the second/ or is it behind- I can't think when I've got short hair- try it and see if it takes the pressure off your scalp like it does mine. Soz for the shite instructions but... it's one of those things my fingers can do without my brain.

Please note that I said 'personally' - as in, my own, personal opinion. It's not a statement, or a reflection of the general concensus, it's what I believe as one person.

I wear quite a lot of plaits, in various incarnations, because I need to have my hair secured off my face (and a ponytail often gives me a headache, too) - though not usually the two-plaits thing because I don't think it really suits me.

I think they can look gorgeous, and are very versatile. I often wear a loose plait, a plait twisted into a bun, two plaits twisted up "Heidi" style. I don't think it looks childish and I frankly don't care if people think it looks stupid, I obviously don't or I wouldn't be wearing my hair that way.

Blah, you really suit your hair in two plaits...definitely try it out, I'm sure no one will comment negatively. :thumb:

    if they do, they're idiots.

it's one thing to think it, but even then, i think most of the people i see out and about have made at least one questionable fashion decision. most people probably think i have made several. can't please em all.

I think you look fine, I'm wearing my hair in plaits today.

Mischa Barton usually has her hair on The OC in a loose side plait. She looks dapper. :D

    Well exactley.

It wasn't so long ago that girls were walking round with massive quiff things, which surely in any body eyes were far more ridiculous but each to their own :p

I think that looks really nice blah, i sometimes wear mine in plaits when i'm at work as it keeps the hair out of my face, go for it i say.
