    I knew there was inevitably going to be someone who criticised this. I don't criticise other people's choices of subject, that is something for themselves. And I apply that principle to myself as well.

    I chose English because it was my strongest subject at A-Level. As for Politics, this one's not so clear. I did History at A-Level, I did well, but I lost most of my enthusiasm for the subject. I'd had a brilliant History teacher during my GCSEs and the teaching at college was not as good. I considered several other subjects including Law, Psychology and Social Studies. Politics appeared to be the best combination I found, and as such, I don't see any problem with it.
