Pumpkin or turnip?

We used to use a carved out turnip instead of a pumpkin for Hallowe'en. Did you use a turnip like me or the traditional pumpkin?

Is it not a bit hard to scoop out the inside of a turnip? It's not soft like a pumpkin or do you do something to it first?

Pumpkin. A local farmer grows tens of thousands of the bastards. You only have to go down the road to see orange field upon orange field.

    giggles.
I've never heard of carving a turnip before. It seems outrageous! I've only done pumpkins and have done one every year of my life until i moved from home. my dad scoops the icky out and i carve. Though sometimes i'll just carve a big blob, not a face.

Aren't turnips too small for that?

    kinda, but not really.

a swede is a variety of turnip (swedish turnip, hence the name) whereas if you go into a shop and ask for a turnip, you'd get a bogstandard english turnip, which is different.

lol you actually can carve them, I'll admit it's not as glamarous or eye catching as a pumpkin but it's possible.
