    £30 for stand alone ID Card
    £35 for a passport (currently)...

    Why pay another £30 on top????

    And that's just a complaint about cost, don't get me started on rights/wrongs...

    I don't want to be pedantic*, but its £42 for a passport renewal http://www.passport.gov.uk/_2_howtoapply/2_what_cost.asp (ok your point still stands)
