Hi,
I have recently started on Microgynon 30 and just wanted to check to see whether anyone else had the same effects and did they eventually go.
I was on it for about two years and had no probs at all but had about a year break from it.
My breasts have grown and are very sore.
Getting bloated and feeling a bit sick.
Getting tired.
Please reply if you got these symptoms and if you had any other reactions.

Although this thread is now closed, it's a really popular one if you find us through search  So, we've edited this original post to include the facts and info you need if you're worried about Microgynon
Firstly, it's really common to experience side effects when taking the pill - especially in the first 3 months while your body is adjusting to the change of hormones.
It's worth pointing out that there are over 30 different brands of contraceptive pill and it's also quite normal to not always suit the first brand you try.
Take a look at these two TheSite articles full of advice and info on the matter:

The pill: Common side effects

The best bet if you're suffering from side-effects, are unsure about what pill to go on or thinking about changing, is to chat to your GP

The best person to speak to about this is your nurse/doctor who prescribed you the pills, they will likely tell you that these side effects are normal and your body is becoming accustomed to having all these new things flying around your system!
You can read more about the pill you are taking here:

Its the bloatedness thats doing my head in at the moment. Any tips to get rid of it? How long did yours last for?
I not long started the pill again, I am at the point where Ive just started my seven-days with no pills - not long before starting my period.
I was thinking that it these symptoms, mainly the tiredness and bloatness are just symptoms of PMS as I am about to start?! As its only been the last week the bloatedness started.
I have found my knees have been aching a lquite badly over the last couple of days also, as if I have been walking for hours (but really I work at a desk all day).
Its my first post on here, I googled for problems with Microgynon 30 and thankfully found this site so here goes..
I have been taking Microgynon 30 for almost a year now but as past few months Ive found that my emotions have been all over the place. Im always worrying about things that could happen to my relationship and Ive even founy myself wondering if Im going crazy as Im anxious and becoming a right pain in the ass to live with! My boyf is great and we have no problems but Im always finding something to worry about and I guess its down to confidence but Im generally quite a confident person and before I was on the pill I definetely didnt worry about things this way. I have found myself crying at the stupidest things and wondering if I am half sane. After considering that it may be my pill and reading on here that other people have experienced something similar, do you think it is my pill or am I going crazy?
Any comments much appreciated!!!!!
The pill contains hormones, of which can make you loopy as they might do for example, before I went on the pill I was a lot more moody and unpredictable. Then again, your relationship is about trust and stability, and the pill should cause you to feel paranoid about your relationship.
I went to see my GP and she put me on Yasmin - I've been absolutely fine since.
Hi - Ive just started taking Micorgynon for about 4 weeks and Ive stated iching in my arms legs and stomach - and on my back today - bit I also have got 5 bruises on the tops of each inner thigh. and then before these have gone ive got 3 on my calves on one leg and 3 on the other calf. its as if ive been gripped by fingeres in a row and then the bruise has grown rectangualr and is about 1cm long for each mark - but im getting worried at the appearance of more and more bruises.
Is the itching beforehand related?
Anybody got feedback on this - im getting a bit worried!
This thread is quite old, you may be better off starting a new thread with your query and people will be more likely to help you rather than scrolling through this current thread.
Im EXACTLY the same and was wondering if it was my pill
Hello, I am 14 years old. I have been put on this pill as irregular periods and even bleeding though the mini-pill. I have been suffering heavy bleeding for up to 3 week for each cycle. I have been taking this pill for 13 days and now am suffering server migraines, fevers and back/neck pains and sharp pains in the lower right hand side of my stomach. I rang my specialists - #1 in western Australia and she recommend I lowered the dosage. I am now waiting to start my new amount and since then I still have had my migraine and random attacks of nose bleeds. I am just suggesting that if you are placed on the 30 gram dosage, you might like to lower just until your body gets used to the hormones.
Thankyou
