Want a new browser

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I use Maxthon browser which is feature rich and is really good for an I.E clone. Any way, I heard Opera was now free so I'm now using that to test it out but I'm not sure if I like it, it's a bit bland like Firefox.

Suggestions?

Get Firefox & spice it up with some extensions & a jazzy theme/skin:)

I think tabbed browsing is a must on modern day browsers.

There's loads of extensions and themes out there to 'enhance' the browsing experience, what was it lacking that made you think it was bland?

I used to use MSN Explorer which was quite good. Like it already has been said, Firefox is good as well.

I don't like the layout, it just feels wrong. I can't explain it. I much prefer IE and Opera. I like the layout of IE but I also like the tabbed windows in Opera.

If your bored with your browser you should try some of the ones they give disabled users. Text and Speech only browsers are AMAZING fun! Takes you right back to the 80s for internet use and theres nothing lazier than having a browser that talks to you so you don't have to bother reading or speaking to it instead of having to use a mouse. RNIB offers these and know there are many freeware options available.

Maxthon is like I.E, has tabbed browsing and also has a ton of features.

What the hell is MSN Explorer?

I was brought up on Netscape back in 1999/2000, so I naturally went over to Mozilla. I tried IE for a year and get infected with spyware. No, I don't go on porn or gambling sites. I merely went on an art site and BOOM! I had Comet Cursor installing itself without my permission. I do like IE as an offline browswer though and I love the active desktop feature.

For Mozilla, I'm not too fussed with tabbed browsing but the pop-up blocker and find-as-you-type are a must. Mozilla also doesn't support Active-X so that is another bonus.

Anyone seen the testing results for IE7?

It is trouncing both firefox and opera in speed tests and compatibility. Can't wait to see it released.

I will h8 to see it released. Do u realise the trauma involved to all web developers when there is a browser upgrade?? IE6 has various loading modes for CSS coding and this means stuff neevr loads in the same place. U can usually compensate through the use of hacks but a new browser from MS will just mean more hacks and more headache :(

It gives web developers something to do.IE7 is going to own every other browser. It is killing firefox in speed tests and opera is laughable compared to it.
