New Orleans, government and responsibility....

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Now, everyone knows that governments lie, cheat and steal. It's what they exist to do.

Everyone knows they usually do (at best) half a job because they are accountable to no one and get paid whatever happens.

People in N.O. must have known that the funding had been cut to the levies.

They had a weeks warning that Katrina and the waves were coming.

Why didn't they take responsibility on themselves to sort things out at any juncture?

Because "government" wouldn't let them?

Because "government" had handed them welfare checks and taught them to lack self responsibility?

Because they expected men and women who use violence to take their property to turn around and save them?

Because they were too lazy or asinine to sort themselves out and left it to others?

It's a lack of self responsibility that helped make this disaster what it is, from start to finish.

    Lol.

Of course they do. Countries and states don't though and they are quite diferent things.

No problem - it's hard to be consistent in language when there is no language for what you are talking about

No worries Al, even I think it's been done to death. You aren't getting it, which is down to my poor communication skills.

    Peace.

Quite aside from the government, I think its quite sad that Foamy the Squirrel has talked the most sense about this disaster so far.

It lacks his usual verve and wit.

    That's a squirrel???

    Jesus.

Still, the badly drawn rodent makes salient points in his high nasal whine.

Incidentally, is it too early to tell the first joke on this event?

I don't think so. When we've got a cartoon commentary on it.

Hmm I think the problem is with all government and that's somehow a view shared by a party that wants to become the government?

    Eh?
