scars

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
i used to self harm. i haven't done it in ages. but i've still got the scars on my arm.
i hate the fact that i ever did it. and i REALLY want to get rid of them because my scars (and other people) are really getting me down. :(

... so, how can i???

i mean, i know of dermablend but its really expensive and it only conceales them, it doesn't get rid of them. and i've tried rubbing vitamin e into my arm, but it hardly appears to do any good at all.

anyone got any ideas?! ... and also, is it possible to get anything on the nhs?! i mean, i really do not do it anymore, and wouldn't even if things got really really bad.

any advice wba. cheers.
otter.

bio-oil is very good for fading scars!
Also, i dont know if you'de be able to get this, its just a thought, but ive heard of a special make-up (but its permanent, i think), i think its available on the NHS (but not sure if it would be for you and your situation), that is used to cover scars+port wine stains!
Sorry i cant give you more info!

    Bio-Oil .

It works wonders. I got one today for £6.99 (normally £8.99) because I lost my other bottle, but it's soooo good.

Would that get rid of raised scars? I've got one on my hip from about a year ago, when I fell on a light-bulb, and it U.G.L.Y.

I still have a big purple raised one where I had my appendicectomy, in Dec 2003. Dunno if Bio-Oil would help.

It should do. There isn't anywhere on the packet that says it won't.

I've been using Cocoa Butter, but it hasn't really done anything.

I don't think it is possible to remove scars with any form of surgery...I read something somewhere that scienctists were working on a type of laser treatment that might help fade scars etc, but I have never seen anything since so I'm not sure if they have developed anything or not.

It depends what kind of scars you have...are they white fine line scars or red raised ones?
white thick line scars, not raised at all, except for 1or2 which are a little raised.

I don't think there is anything that can be done about them then.

If they're white and not raised, then try Bio-Oil. Seriously. It's great.

(How many times am I gonna recommend this stuff to people ;p?!)
