Is ginger wine ok after 8 months?!

We found our ginger wine from christmas in the cupboard and Dad said throw it out. Mom said its fine as it has alcohol. Whose right and nmore to the point can I drink it and if so whats it go with to make a long drink? I don't do shots!!

Sorry I know this isn't a cookery forum but you guys are worldly wise so will no doubt know the answer!

    Spirits, wines ect tend to keep quite well.

    Ok it says best used within three months. Does this mean its quality will go off or it will be dangerous!!

    Hmm I tiny bit won't hurt, I'll try it later when I've finished with my coffeee. I think I'm gonna side with dad and say throw it though-5 months after its been past its recommended date probably isn't wise!! Oh well I'll havea nestle milkshake instead!

    hmm well i was once told if it says best before whatever, you can have it after the date and it wont harm you it just wont taste as it should but if it says use by whatever, you shouldnt have it after the date.

    I didn't realise ginger wine was alcoholic well the one my grandma makes isn't.

    Try it. If it tastes alright drink it cos it's not going ot kill you anyway.

    Stuff with ginger in it is likely to keep well.

    Certain alcoholic products become more alcoholic with age apparently. Gone off liquid isn't going to kill you. I'd understand it if it was gone off eggs or sommat, but gone off liquid will be alright. I've got pissed off gone off boddingtons before, and had an ace time.

    If it was previously opened throw it away. If it wasn't you have 3 months to drink it!

    It was ok. I mixed it with some lemonade last night. Still here now so i guess its ok! thanks for the info guys!

    I tried it with coke and its like an unusual flavoured coke-but as they do vanilla lime and lemon I think i should tell them how nice it is and they can bring out a ginger coke! hmm maybe not!
