Know any decent mailing lists to get on to that don't send crap like spam. I've been searching for a directory of them but some look a bit spamish.

    What for? To revice info on stuff I want to read, like the SecurityFocus mailing list.

    Have you had a look around the Yahoo! mailing lists? A lot of them are unmoderated and filled with spam but there are also plenty of excellent ones.

    Search for groups, have a look around, and then send an email to the subscribe address. You don't need a Yahoo! ID and you don't have to join the group, just subscribe to the emails. Larger groups can take a few days to kick off or stop - Smaller groups are usually immediate.
