Restart your modems ;)

Think we all just got upgraded for free again. I've just gone from 2mb to 10mb - time to download porn :thumb:

I just did some research and there is no upgrades for a good while yet. Where exactly are you getting this information from?

As for 10meg, its being trialled but its not available on TW *yet*, from what i read 6meg is the next step, and apparently that has been confirmed.

Of course TW are notorious for BS'ing customers to keep them with them and stop them from leaving.

For the record TW would *never* give anyone a free upgrade of that size, from 2mb to 10mb, never.

After a quick adslguide test, turns out im only on 8mb :(

    http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedchart.asp?id=7361c55d1055ff887097361c55d <- My test results

Most of my friends on Blueyonder have been up'd as well, as have some on overclockers forum.

...and a screenshot showing a random download from tucows ;)

TW definitely havent upgraded speeds so it's odd that you see and some of your friends have seen an increase. How odd.

Well now ... Telewest have announced following NTL's speed increases TW cusomters are getting another increase also :D

    See here for more info
The standard 1Mb service will become a "super fast" 4Mb service

    ^ :D i'm happy again.

Although the downside is this :
The upgrades will be conducted free of charge on a region-by-region basis, beginning next month before completion early next year.

and then i saw this :
Upstream will be increased to 256K for the new 2Mb service and 384K for the others.
all packages will remain free of usage caps.

    that'll be good then. :D

is there a usage limit on the blueyonder service?

and what's the upload limit like? having a low upload speed sucks when your housmates are using bittorrent :(

All this 10mb/s download speed stuff is abolutely bollocks unless ISPs start giving us a decent upload rate too.

I'd rather have a symmetric 2mb/s connection than a crap 30-40kB/s upload speed with a super fast download rate.

The only place i know of in scotland that they are doing 10mb trials is in the Falkirk area, where 2mb / 4mb customers have been testing it out.

I guess I must have been one of the lucky 'trial' users :p Unfortunately that ended 2 days ago so now i'm back on 2mb till the upgrade. Got high hopes that they upgrade this area first, they have done before, so woo to that :D

I coulda told you they were gonna do that ages ago ;p. They're starting a 30-something-mb (I think, if I remember rightly) one at some point too. And when I go to Uni I get a free account 'cause we can't get it here and 'cause my stepdad works for them he gets a free account. Yay.

Then you would have the fantastic Infinite, and myself of course to meet :p

I'm quite sure TW has already started upgrades in Edinburgh because my modem has been going on and off for over a week and a half, off for around 20 minutes each time it does drop its connection, then comes back. Hmm

I'm liking the sound of this Blueyonder stuff though. My stepdad better stay working for 'em, I tell ya.

"Customers who currently have broadband via the television set-top box [wireless self-install kit] can still only benefit from a maximum speed of 1MB. More Information to Follow"

    Well that's crap :(
