Drugs during pregnancy

My mates 21 weeks pregnant and she just wants to know what peoples veiws on doing drugs during pregnancy.
I mean i done it when i was pregnant with my son and hes perfectly healthy. But what do the rest of ya think?

I think it is wrong, how would you feel if your kid was born with deformities because of you taking drugs? If you don't think there is anything wrong with it then I don't think you are mature enough to be a parent.

You did ask our opinions, I'm just giving it.

Fair opinions. The drugs arent addictive once and its not even high amounts of it. Its a bit harsh saying i'm not mature enough to be a parent though. I mean the only reason i did do drugs during my pregnancy was to harm the baby coz i never wanted it but after he was born and he was healthy my mind changed so much. And now i couldnt be happier,

yeah i am being serious i never wanted my son the first 12 weeks after finding out i was pregnant was really hard for me, my mum had breast cancer i was 15 and doing my GCSEs and my brother was in Kosovo (army). The whole family was a mess and i didnt want to stress them out more with the news of me being pregnant. but once i was showing and my mum was so supportive nearly everything i stopped. I still smoked and drank a little. I thought i was going to be all alone that everyone was going to hate me. If i could turn back time i would never of thought like that and i would of spoken to my mum straight away. i love my son to bits now and would never change him for anything in the world

Probably need to know a couple of things:
acid can cause genetic damage
some research has suggested that grass can cause birth defects but not proved
most dangerous drug to take in pregnancy - alcohol - and can't predict how much will have a damaging effect - two drinks at the wrong time of pregnancy can cause problems, drinking two litres of vodka a day at a different time might not effect......

I'm not going to judge anybody because I'm no angel myself.. but from the moment I discovered I was pregnant (3 weeks) I stopped everything... drinking, smoking (cigs and hash), pills the lot.. The way I saw it was it's nine months out of your life. You have a new life growing inside you and depending on your every breath for it's growth and development and in my personal opinion I think that it's just plain selfish to inflict your bad habits on a foetus.. doing without for nine months won't kill you. It didn't kill me and the way I saw it was if my son was born with any kind of defect then I could have said, hand on heart, that I was not to blame. I know girls who do a lot of shit while pregnant and frankly it just disgusts me <IMG SRC="mad.gif" border="0" ALT="icon">

I honestly cant get over the fact you forced your child to have cocaine and ecstacy via the placenta. I dont care about a bit of cannabis in moderation in pregnancy or the odd drink here and there has been proven to be safe.
As a lot of people here know, i had a serious amphetamine addiction, but as soon as i knew i was pregnant, i never took it again, i was sharing my body with an innocent child. if someone cant put their baby first they should have an abortion or put the baby up for adoption. someone i knew, carried on injecting speed all the way through her pregnancy, and yes the baby was ok, but she had it taken away from her and quite right too. I think she got the baby back once shed given up for good. i know 2 other people who took heroin and speed all through their pregnancies and all were born addicts and had to be in special care for a long time and then adopted out. I
have no sympathy for people who take drugs in pregnancy, and every sympathy for the poor child

And I suppose you'd happily give your baby drugs now would you? No? Well then why do it before he's born? People like this make me sick. There are thousands of women out there who'd dearly love to have a child but can't, and silly little girls like you and your friend don't give a shit about their unborn babies or what damage they're doing to them. You shouldn't have got pregnant in the first place if you didn't want him.
