Strange PC Problem

For some reason this morning, I managed to 'lose' all my programs from the toolbar at the bottom of my screen, even though they were still running. Anyone know why?

    It's stopped happening now, finally. Not sure if this is related to said problem, but for some reason this morning, my PC would freeze everytime I tried to open up a program, well with Outlook Express, it would open the program up then it decided that wouldn't let me do anything, then I'd have to restart the PC - I had do this three times before it finally decided to let me on...

    Try turning off the computer and unplugging it at the mains and leaving it for 30 seconds, then restart it. This essentially clears all the RAM and so you start with a fresh boot, and hopefully and temperemental errors should go away. Hopefully..
