Anyone into Mixing? If so, do u play ne where, what equipment u got etc.? I mix on a fairly basic set up...citronic direct drive decks and mixer...can't afford technics...I am gonna play a gig in a month or so tho in my University Halls...looking forward to it.

Finally, do u go to ne drum n bass clubs? Im in London so I am always at Fabric, the End, Herbal etc.

Most of the D&B now is jank.
Much prefer jungle from 95 till 98. Lost it's magic in my opinion.

Absououtly love it mate. Only really like Atmospheric DnB though. I'm into DJs like Nookie, AI, Bukem, Modemellow, P.B.K, Orange n Blue, Aquasky, J-Laze, Makoto, people like that.

Check out this mix, it's awsome. It's this type of Atmos DnB & MCing I'm really into. Right click, save as.

Nookie & MC System - Atmosphere Prologue Mix

I've got some nice mixes on my site, it's not finished yet but there is a fe won there.

I agree, but I still make an attempt to go to dnb events, just because I like the buzz.
In answer to the question, I'm into stuff like Adam F, Andy C, Layo &n Bushwaka, and I like the whole hip-hop dnb fusion stuff like Scratch Perverts. Also like the commercial dancey stuff like 2manydjs and roni size.

    Is anyone going to creamfields?

DJ hype is good I suppose to get u into it, but trust me, when u start hearing all these crazy Synth basslines from the likes of Pendulum, Dillinja etc. u wont wanna hear ne thing else...that's how I am at the minute...if u wanna hear some samples of DnB tunes, head to www.chemical-records.co.uk and go to the search engine....seriously look at tunes by Dillinja- feel my pain and in the grind VIP) and Pendulum - another planet...its got crazy synth in that...like some sort of German Beer hall festival

Ok, here's the the Trip-Hop mix, it's only 36 minutes long, my hosting company doesn't give me much space so I had to keep it a shortish one.

I wouldn't mind an answer to that (FilthyChav) too as I'm a newcomer to d&b...so far though I only really like the liquid d&b like High Contrast, Nu:Tone, Logistics etc (OK, OK - anything on Hospital :) ) as I tend to find some of the harder more original drum & bass quite harsh to listen to. Also went to see London Elektricity at Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff on Friday night, they are an absolutely awesome live drum & bass group with one of the best drummers ever - check out their album Billion Dollar Gravy if you like the more liquid, funky styles of drum & bass. Other than that I'd say check out some of the specialist programmes on Radio 1 like Fabio & Grooverider's show, also Annie Mac tends to play some wicked d&b (Thursday nights from 9pm)...Bobby Friction and Nihal (sp?) do too - their d&b stuff is usually Asian/bhangra-influenced.
Anyway FilthyChav my suggestion might be to get one of the CDs in the Fabric Live compilation series, or one of Hospital Records' "Plastic Surgery" compilations.

Anything on Good Looking Records. GLO is a class label. Also have a look for some stuff on Covert Operations, Camino Blue.

Have a look at this thread, and look up some of the guy's I mentioned.

Get some proper fucking proper jungle on people.
Some Congo Natty and some old skool Mickey Finn etc.

The standard of D&B over the last couple of years has really dropped.

Hey felix, this is pretty good, thanks for the link :)

I've always prefered more ambient D&B to be honest...

I enjoyed the red mix you posted a while ago too, is the blue mix out yet?

    Each to their own.

Personally, being there in the middle of it all enhances the music (well, considering it's not a shite sound system). I'll always remember when Zinc I think dropped Roni Size - Brown Paper Bag at Energy '04, which is a good tune anyway but when it came on fuck me, I was blown away. Same with that Butterfly VIP tune, one of my favourite tunes at the minute and I can listen to it all day long at home and appreciate it's a wicked tune, but when I hear it out and about... :yum:

And I agree with the general consensus, the vast majority of modern drum and bass (bar a couple of artists, namely Pendulum) is bollocks, much much prefer older jungley style stuff - Adam F, Mickey Finn, Aphrodite, Alex Reece, R-Type, Krome & Time etc.

Six million ways to die, dontcha know. :D

I agree with the general opion here that most modern drum and bass is nowhere near as good as that from the 95-98 era. I like the stuff that doesn't rely on having to max out the speakers to be good.

High Contrast, Calibre and the Future Engineers produce some really nice stuff. Teebee is also a great artist.

I do a bit of mixing and have the following kit:-
2x Numark TTX1 direct drives (better than technics in my opinion)
Allen and Heath Xone 32 mixer (the bol**cks! Undoubtedly the best piece of equipment I have ever owned)
I've also spent alot of money on the cabling - people often don't realise how much of a difference a high quality lead can make.

If you fancy listening to some Drum and Bass online, then www.bassdrive.com is a good place to go.
