this has been happening for a few days..
on msn i have the setting ticked so that the last bit of conversation history is shown in a conversation window. but the strange thing is, someones history will end up in another persons window!! also, someones file transfer ended up in another persons window
also internet explorer has been wierd, sometimes it just says the page cannot be found but it happens for every website i try to go on. then all of a sudden it will be ok again, and then sometimes i will type a website into the address bar eg.google and an entirely different website will open :S
any ideas what is happening?

try reinstalling msn and IE? Alsdo what do you use to scan for viruses and what do you use to scan for spyware? (the IE thing could be a homepage hijacker?)
