Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I just love life. I had a conversation with a great big fat robin today on my way to work. Cycled through the frost, fed the ducks, looked for the Squirrels, sang a song.....Fantastic.
The beautiful world is my drug - whats yours? <IMG alt="image" SRC="smile.gif" border="0"> <IMG alt="image" SRC="smile.gif" border="0"> <IMG alt="image" SRC="smile.gif" border="0">

Well apart from loads of drugs.....

    <IMG alt="image" SRC="wink.gif" border="0">

....the realisation of what is going on around me, the vitality of life, the utterly incomprehensible complexity of even the simplest plant or insect, the fact I was born to this time when the world is putting on a magnificent display of colonising every available niche and making it all so organic, the contentment to be able to look and understand but at the same time never really fully grasp the micro-habitat, the niche, the habitat, the ecosystem, the biosphere that surrounds me.

    *sigh*

    Guess it's a biologist thing.

To look up upon a clear night sky, with the stars and the moon looking down on me. To breathe the crystal clear air (although not in london) and to sample the simplest of pleasures given to us by the world.

Although personally, I also quite like the ocasional pill.

    wow!

Lord of little - where did that come from.

Fed the ducks today and found myself surrounded by horses from the Cardiff Riding school lastnight - they'd escaped!!!

    I can't believe sex hasn't been mentioned, or even better sex on drugs! <IMG alt="image" SRC="biggrin.gif" border="0">
...or best of all, sex with the person you love.

I do like trees and birds tweeting and all that natural crap but I suppose I take it for granted cos of where I live.

I was thinking this was a kinda "simple pleasures in life" thread Skive, and though sex on drugs is most certainly a pleasure, getting there ain't always simple.

Byny, it all came from watching David Attenborough nature documentaries when I was younger, then finding I was quite good at biology as a subject, reading lots of Sci-Fi and then going on to study at Uni. I feel I appreciate the living world around me much more than if I didn't have that kind of perspective. Nature is often cruel, sometimes kind, but ultimately and always fascinating. A simple pleasure wherever you go.....

Is sex not one of the most simple pleasure in life then?

do you know what I like?

Seeing a little wee bird on the pavement trying to pluck food or grass from the cracks in the pavement, while the wind tries to blow it over and the traffic rumbles by.

Something about Nature fighting against the crap that goes on around it.

I love the river with the ducks, the trees with the birds, the horses.

I've lived it the most rural parts of Wales and Ireland, and in cities like London and Manchester and nature is everywher - don't get blase about it folks! <IMG alt="image" SRC="wink.gif" border="0">

When I used to work on the rivers, after 8 hours of pilling (not the little white ones)but banging trench sheets in to the river banks with 1/2 ton air hammers and big noisy engines running all day. I would sit on the deck of the narrowboat, skin up, open a tin of larger, watch the sun set to the sound of water lapping up against the side of the boat and the birds sing as i got relaxed with the secnery. Aha those were the days.

And to bring me crashing back to earth....
accepted a lift in one of those car things with my bloke this morning (instead of cycling) and had to put up with 20 minutes of moaning about everything from Speed Cameras to Sara Cox!

Ho hum..... roll on tomorrow's cycle!
