what to put on a really burny rash?

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
ok, so in the last few days i've developed a weird pink rash thing over my cheeks. it didn't really hurt, but was a bit dry, so i decided to put something on it. sudocrem, actually, thinking that it was pretty mild, and couldn't hurt to try.

wrong! my face now feels like it's on fire.

just wondering if anyone knew anything more mild than sudocrem (and also aqueous cream. similar story with that :( )

or should i just leave it?

Aloe vera gel is good for rashes...or has been for me in the past. Do you have any idea what caused it? Might be worth getting it checked out at the docs.

    i probably should :-/

i get rashes on my face fairly often, cause my skin is quite sensitive and disagrees with a lot o of skin products, but they're not usually like this one, and a bit of sudocrem usually does the trick.

also i haven't been using anything different. odd.

    e45 cream?

yeah thats what i have always used, but it might be a little bit greasy for use on your face.

When i've got dry skin, most creams make me burn i noramlly just slap it on and stick it out though :/

is it one of them rashes that kinda look like a graze?

i get them on my hands and wrists if i use the wrong soap, i find that i cant put anything on it other than a bit of vaseline to keep it moist and stop it from cracking when it dries out. the vaseline with aloe vera might be worth a try as someone said aloe vera is good for burns!

no, but i have one of those over one of my hands atm from the cleaner at work replacing our nice handwash with something that smells like some kind of industrial cleaning fluid :|

my cheek rash looks a bit like sunburn. i thought it was at first, cause i got it after being out in the sun on sunday, but it comes and goes and appears to be getting worse every time it comes back, so not your typical sunburn :chin:

i'll probably end up in the chemist at some point. i would go to the doctor, but cause it's one of those things that comes and goes, you can bet your socks that when i get an appointment, it'll go, there'll be nothing to see, and they'll fob me off with the 'if it's not better in a week, come back' line.

Kaff, is it just on your cheeks or is it across your nose as well?

it's hard to tell, cause my nose is really freckly. it looks a wee bit pink, but nothing so dramatic as to upstage the freckles. then again, the whole thing is a lot better atm. today i just look like i'm wearing a bit of blusher, but am shit at putting it on.

i'm considering waiting to see the specialist again (should get an appointment through in the next couple of weeks) rather than go see my GP, cause i think it might all be related. i have a number at the hospital to ring if it gets really bad, anyway.
