I just finished making this for my IB Magazine thing. I have limited HTML skills, but I want your opinions on like colour scheme and things. I know there are no articles yet, but there will be a few by the end of the weekend (in theory).

Okay, here's my analysis of it...

The text is very big and in-your-face. It's not very easy on the eye.

Unless you're trying to be goth, black and red isn't an attractive colour scheme. It's hard for a lot of people to read.

Don't make links open in new windows. For reasons, see the first point. If you want to offer the choice, then include a checkbox somewhere that you can tick to make them open up in new windows.

You could maybe use a bit more text on your page and a little fewer links elsewhere. As it is, there's no real content on that page at all, not even a description of whatever it is that the thing is. Content is key.

I can't really do fewer links, as those are all necessary. I know there's no content, that's because I've had no articles in yet. The rest of them are lazy and haven't written anything yet, I'm the production person rather than the writing-stuff-for-it person.

I'll try and think of a better description though...

The only problem I have with the black and red is that because of that IB logo thing, I have a fun choice between black and white as background (unless someone wants to change the colours for me ).

I can change the red though *shrugs*. Suggestions for colour?

if you can't have fewer links you could maybe move some of them into a block near the top and make them into one word links, that way the page would look less like a list of links.

It may be worth taking a while to ponder over the design of the page. Look around similar things on google.

I agree the large header, red on black arent too great. Also if the links have more of a description. Definately stop the links opening in a new window, if visitors want they can right-click and Open new window, you dont need to make a button.
I can only suggest to 'shop around', visit other online magazines, and use the inspiration to create something similar.

i like black and red together, and i'm not a goth.

Possibly, but I already had the frankiline.co.uk domain, and it's being uploaded to the IB website when I've done it.

don't feel the need to fill all the white space, you only need the logo once.

So drop the huge Online!!! thing, just have it as part of the title, not shouting at you, get rid of the blue box around the logo and the logo on the left

There's boxes round the logo's 'cause they're linked, and I can't remember how to get rid of the border (I was told, but I forgot ).

The top image is far too big.

Also, get rid of the borders 'round the logos at each side (border="0").

The content font looks a little... 'bulky'. Maybe change to Verdana?

The links at the bottom, make them a couple of points smaller than the body text.

Oh, and for the love of God, get rid of the marquee :razz:
