Labour Cronyism

Its good to see old Phoney giving his old mates nice plum jobs:

- Peter Mandelson became European Commissioner

- Lady Amos became head of UN Refugee Agency

- Helen Liddell became High Commissioner in Australia

and now Paul Boateng is to become High Commisioner in South Africa.

Cronyism is alive & well in this corrupt Labour government!

    so the guy might not be bigh commissioner to south africa, they cant appoint him till labour win again

    and so what? all governments appoint their friends and chums into power, thats the only way you can survive in politics, is by making alliances and keeping them

    All I'm saying is thats indicative of how Phoney Blair runs his corrupt government, spin to the media, lies to the public, and jobs for the boys (& girls).

    sorry mate but thats how any political party works

    and sometimes even because the person who gets a job is the most qualified, just because they have connections with the appointee, the media jumps on them

    Not sure Mandleson is cronyism (given that Kinnock was appointed by Major) ButI hate the Americanisation of UK politics where senior ambassadors are picked as political appointees rather than being professional civil servants picked from within the FCO.

    This shouldnt bother you in the slightest RK since you so readily play the willing mouthpiece for the brazen corruption of the Bush admin. After all, let us remind our readers that Bush reinstated daddy's criminal (and indeed convicted felons i.e. Abrams and Poindexter) cohorts and has gone on to promote the well known "Butcher of Honduras" Negroponte from rung to rung on the administration ladder culiminating in his current role as head of the US intelligence community.

    A fine example of transparent cronyism for all partner nations to follow.
