NZ man feeds family chocolates laced with ecstasy

This wasn't me before you all asked but I read this on Yahoo! this morning and was quite amused:

A New Zealand school teacher, unable to resist the lure of a mystery package of chocolates in his mailbox, inadvertently fed his relatives the illicit party drug ecstasy, police said on Monday.

The man found the parcel, which was addressed to someone else and had a British postmark, in his mailbox in the South Island city of Christchurch, constable Greg Sutherland told Reuters.

The parcel contained 16 chocolates and a note saying "I thought you'd enjoy these. I know they're your favourites!"

The man helped himself to three of the chocolates with no apparent ill-effects before giving one each to his sister and brother-in-law.

"Soon after (they) felt the "weird" effects of the drug. They opened up more of the chocolates and found the small round tablets wrapped up in gladwrap (plastic food wrap) inside the chocolate," Sutherland said, adding that tests showed at least 10 of the chocolates contained ecstasy.

The family were "extremely worried" by the experience but have subsequently received a clean bill of health from a doctor.

"Obviously, the three people who ate the chocolates are not going to be charged with possession -- they'd never even heard of ecstasy," Sutherland added

Hes a school teacher and hes never heard of Esctasy?!? Also if they aren't being charged with possession are they being charged with opening other peoples mail? Thats a crime isn't it? Just goes to show, only open mail addressed to you.... <IMG alt="image" SRC="smile.gif" border="0">

That reminded me though once I had some chocolate while I was on E, I felt sick which wasn't nice at all.

I woulda thought it showed always open other peoples mail in the hope of finding ectasy laced chocolates!

Reminds me of an article in mixmag couple of years ago where some bloke got 500 or so Merc's in the post from somwhere in Hong Kong. Even though he did pills he wanted to avoid getting captured by the old bill or more importantly the people who they were actually meant for. On top of that he didn't know if they were any good so they went the way of the U bend.

In that situation i'd properly have either taken them elsewhere and buried them or done the same thing, that amount would no doubt bring attention from the real UK owners of the pills...

After thinking about that article and about the mail system in general I started *just thinking* about all the odds and ways of doing it to this country, but its so risky, I was only trying to think about my own bank balance here and my own supply...

Bag of 100 from the UK would be nice, street value in NZ of about $2250, save me a bit of money for myself, on a personal level only...

After hearing how pricey drugs are in NZ I was thinking the same.

I'd be up for it except I don't really know how the mail system works and it'd be risky cos they couold get lost or even worse you could get captured! <IMG alt="image" SRC="biggrin.gif" border="0">

I know that many countries have x-ray scanning posts or parcels from abroad, so it might not worth the risk. I have a mate living in Holland sent a catalogue for hash and smoking kits to someone here in UK. Then he got questioned by the customs, but was clear in the end.
