Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
What are the best and worst male fragrances? I want to buy a really decent one (e.g. D & G). I don't know shit about stuff like that so help!

And shoes...I want new classy yet casual shoes, what are the best brands to go for?

Best thing fragrance-wise would be to go to somewhere that sells them and try a few out. They smell different on different people due to the pH value of skin, so the best thing is to try them.

Like in Boots where they spray them on your arm?

Yes, like that. I'd go somewhere with a specific fragrance counter like John Lewis or Debenhams though, the people behind the counters are more likely to know what they are talking about than a random in Boots.

Or go to The Perfume Shop because they are the best. (Thought I'd better include a shameless plug as I work there!)

Avoid the Hugo Boss silver ball one like it's Zyklon-B - that shit is horrible :yuck:

    A few ones to try:

    Jean Paul Gaultier,
    Issey Miyake,
    Alessandro Dell'acqua.

    A few ones to avoid:

    That Hugo Boss one,
    Joop!,
Other ned ones like Joop! ;[

    Polo blue is lovely.

But yes, you should go and try them out first.

Don't try more than three at a time cause your nose will get confused. Get them to spray it on one of those little cards first and then if you like it get them to spray it on you. Go and walk around for an hour (because the smell changes) and if you like it on you after an hour, then you like it.

It'll be reasonably casual, nothing too formal and nothing overly "goth". Preferably something that works well with anything casual, so something that would go with blue/black jeans and a shirt/t-shirt. Probably will be wearing them to go out and may wear them most of the time.

Price range wise I'm not made of money, but would possibly go up to £60/70 if they looked damn good.

Giorgio Armani - Acqua Di Gio :heart::heart:

    http://mactak.pekori.jp/img/ACQUA_GIOM.gif

Some people did a bunch of studies on this cologne and they put ingredients in it that turn on women. I dont know if they sell it in the UK but they sell it tons here in the US and it is THE best cologne I've ever smelt. I'm sure you can buy it off the net though. Even just buy a small sample of it because it smells soooo good.
