I am.

The only side effect I found, which might just be me, is that rather than making me depressed, as it said, it's made it so that I just cry easier. I feel the same, it's just that now for the most part when I want to cry I can.

I've also found that I have put on weight, and it's a lot harder for me to lose any when I want to.

But benefits-wise, I'm down from a 2 week long period to a 3 day long one. So that's super.

Hey every1!

I went on this pill about a year ago. I thought everything was fine but my mum said she didn't think it suited me right from the start. As you know you have to go back to see the nurse/doc for a check up every now and then, and gradually my blood pressure was getting higher. So about 3 weeks ago the doc advised me to come off it to see if anything changed, and seeing as I wasn't in a r/ship at that point. I went back to see the nurse on monday and my blood pressure is "perfect" and I've lost half a stone in just 3 weeks! So now she's put me on a lower dose pill (can't think of the name off-hand) so I've just gotta wait and see what happens now.

Oh, if you meant the weight gain, it's kinda gradual. Like you might notice your weight creeping slowly up every week or so. I think blood pressure level are only conected with long term use, but I'm not too sure. it explains a lot of stuff in the instructions, if you are on the exact same sort as I was then you get LOADS of instructions in the pack.

I used to be on microgynon 30, but it really affected my moods. I used to be absolutely nuts when I was taking it. As soon as I came off it I was like a different person. U will probably be OK with it, but watch out for any changes, 'cos at the time I couldn't see that I was being neurotic. Now with hindsight it's so scary to think how I was!

yea ive been taking it for maybe 6 months now, havent noticed any major side effects, my weight fluctuates anyway so i cant tell if its causing trouble in that department.

it buggered up my skin something chronic mind you

but i cant really fault it coz i used to have really horrible horrible periods, and now theyre titchy. ha! i can even use the mini tampax during the last day or two!

hmmm but this month for the first time since starting this pill im having the heaviest period ive had in years, and its mind-blowingly painful...guess i should check that one out with the doc....anyone had a similar prob?

Yep, in addition to it making me crazy, my periods were really heavy and could last for up to three weeks. But I don't think that was just microgynon, because celeste did it too. I eventually had to be taken off the pill altogether.

I really don't have a lot of tust in the pill at all anymore. Too many of my friends have sufered bad side affects like mine.

I have been on microgynon for nearly 6 years now and have just started a new thing my friend told me about.
I thought i would try this because although the pill regulated my periods I still have alot of period pain.
It is called tricycling, you take your packet of pills 3 at a time and have your period in between.
Apparently women do not need to have so many periods!!
I would not suggest this to anyone unless they find out about it first and make their own decision as it may not suit them.
I am only on by first batch of tricycling so it is still very new to myself,I've got this terrible feeling I'm going to have a really bad period when the time comes.
I will report how it goes!

I have done the tri-cycle thing and i did get a period that was more heavy than usual, but for the convenience theother 9weeks i thought it was worth it. its not recommended you do it every time. Rotating between 2 packs and 3 might be better.
I did gain a bit of weight, but reading this im going to mention my moods next time I go and i might change altogether.

i do that and its actually not that heavy, surprisingly. i only had a period of about 2 or 3 days last time, and i think id taken 3 packs before... mighta been 2, i can never keep track! ive taken 4 a few times too, it just ended up being REALLY inconvenient to have a period at the end of each pack... so i took another one. i phoned up NHS Direct and Book advisory center (or maybe FPC) to check it was alright after reading about it somewhere... i much prefer doing this than having feckin 12 periods a year lasting about a week each

Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.

I am so glad I'm not the only one who has tried tricycling apart form me and my friend.
I was a bit worried there for a bit.
I told my Mum about it and she went mad and said "oh you should not mess with nature" I think it is because she did not understand it.I showed her the other comments on this site and she has calmed down now.
She is so over the top just lately I think she is on the change!!!

I get such bad period pains (even though i'm on the Pill), that my doctor and my gynaecologist told me to use the tri-cyclic method. The only side effect i get now is that i tend to 'spot' at the end of my 3rd pack. I don't really want to change pills, cos i don't want to start again with the inital side effects again (sore boobs, anyone?!), and i don't get any others. Has anyone else had this problem?

due to insufficient funding, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off.
