Peter Oborne of the spectator (don't start, I read all kinds of stuff), is writing a book about the lies of our politicians, and asks for contributions from interested individuals.
Even if we don't send 'em all to Oborne it might be interesting to see how many examples we can come up with, and an important learning experience (which is why most of us are here)?The mendacities of the last Tory government will be chronicled, as well as the present Labour administration, and deceits of the Lib Dems.

Its hardly a novel idea for a book either as it happens. I'm in the process of reading Lying in State by Tim Slessor, which examines a number of what he terms SODEMs (Standard Offensive/Defensive/Evasive Measures) in which civil servants and politicians go to great lengths to deceive the public, parliament and often themselves.
