'too many professors'

in my dept we have very few professors, like the admin post doc people are stil called dr, its only heads of teaching sections and heads of research that have it

but mine is the 3 oldest uni in england

    Still only 9.7% of academic staff are professors, not a lot really.......

    When it comes down to it, who gives a shit, when you seriously consider someones qualities you don't just say oh they are a professor they must be good, you actually look at their backgorund.

    Is this just professors at old universities worrying they won't be able to impress with their title so much i wonder?
