How should the Spanish be punished?

Spain should apologise publically on behalf of its team and genuine fans, and FIFA/UEFA should levy a fine or punishment of some sort.
And Madrid will surely be excluded from the race for the Olympics now.
Kind of apologised now but it still doesn't hide the fact of what they were doing.
I couldn't believe it when I was watching it was clear to hear especially in the 2nd half when Wright-Phillips came on. I was shocked and I know personally I wouldn't have been able to handle such abuse and I take my hat of to the black english players for keeping there cool and not taking there frustartion out on other players, something I know I would have probably done in the circumstances.
It is the job of FIFA/UEFA to punish the spanish. If it was England fans shouting the abuse we would have being threatened to get kicked out of tournaments etc. but other places in Europe seem to get away with hooliganism, racism etc.. They need to put a ban on Spanish fans going to games for at least 3 games in my opinion and make the Spanish team play home games behind closed doors, also a massive fine needs to be handed out to the Spanish FA. Doesn't help that the Spanish coach is a racist and didn't apologise for calling Thierry Henry a "black shit", when he got caught on camera.
Neither do I.
Oh Wonderful, tolerant, multilateral EU!
It is as I suspected , the continent of Europe is filled with disgusting bigots.
Britain should have nothing to do with them, their politics, their unions and their racism.
Because nobody at all in Britain is a racist....
Luke’s got a point. If it were English fans I bet the EU would have spoken out pretty fiercely against us; correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think the EU has condemned the Spanish?
I also imagine people like yourself Aladdin would have been far more critical were it English fans rather than Spanish.
Whatever the case it was a sad display of backwards behaviour and it was worrying how widespread it was.
What has the European Union got to do with football
I don't remember the EU condemning England for, say, the murder of Stephen Lawrence, or the recent spite of homophobic attacks and murders. And why would they?
Stop inventing scenarios that wouldn't have happened and trying to paint the EU as the Devil incarnated.
Last I checked the EU and UEFA were independent organism.
Nope. I don't think so. Check my reaction in the sport forum.
On that I agree, though the number of people who joined in can be better explained by stupid defiance and ignorance (i.e. playing to the tune of the Spanish manager, who is the real cunt here) rather than widespread racism.
Let's remember that there are plenty of black players playing every week in La Liga, and nothing like this has ever happened before. Surely if Spain was a country full of racists this would be common occurrence, would it not?
What has racism got to do with football? Football is a sport and racism is a hateful ideology, there should be no link between the two. Sadly in Spain there is.
Anyway the EU doesn't in principle have anything to do with football. Tony Blair doesn't have anything to do with football but he still spoke out against it. The EU should too if it hasn't already. And Spain and England are both EU members...
I've got news for you mate: there is well established, and to this day very much alive link between football and racism in England.
Go and ask Bradford or Leicester supporters who go to games regularly if they've ever had "you're just a town full of Pakis" chanted at them...
id agree with you on that, but we havent got THAT much of a problem in comparison to spain such that the manager and fans can get away with it in the national team
if england done that we'd be kicked out of european championships automatically
obviously removing racist ideas from football takes time, but in this country its going down gradually, and from my impression of match and its build up, its still prevalent there with noone trying to fix it
i like how the manager had a go at english colonism - what has that got to do with the modern game, yes we have a bad history, so do most countries, ours had an effecton the world, sure, but it is stillhistory we're actively trying to make our country fairer, and you cant blame me for my countries history
However, I cant help thinking the English media are slightly pleased this has happened. It means they can avoid getting depressed about the fact England didnt have a shot on target and when people point the finger at them about hooliganism they can now say, "here, what about spain?"
You really don't have a clue do you?
Gas a jew jew jew
in the oven gas mark 2...
How convenient...
I'd say Spain should at least be made to play behind closed doors for a number of games, the FA fined and the manager sacked immediately.
