tongue pierced

i had my tongue pierced on sunday as a kinda bday prezzie 2 myself, and it was fine, didnt swell, or hardly hurt, but, i went out last nite and got a bit tipsy, snogged this bloke(u aint suppost 2 have contact, kiss, 4 4 wks!) and i woke up 2 day and its throbbing like mad, and a bit swolled, and also theres a little lump on the top just infront of it.
im worried that the lump wont go, i know its early days but i dont wanna have 2 take it out.
does n e 1 have there tongue pierced and experience pain days l8r, and swelling?
(the kissin was damn good though!!!)

What you've got to remember is that in having something pierced you basically stab yourself and leave the object within the skin/tissue, when I had my eye-brow done it was the same, but on going out I knocked it and that caused bleeding and swelling...

The lump is probably due to adjetation from the night out and will go down by itself, wounds take a few weeks to heal completly and the tissue will be tender and weak within that time, I'd recommend swirling/garggling with salty water once a night to keep the piercing clean and infection free...

You can always go back and speak with the piercist, most places offer advice and after-care, just go and explain your concern, if the lump is worrying you after a while you could always still go to your GP, better safe than sorry... <IMG alt="image" alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif"&gt;

thanx guys,
im still in pain, and its slightly worse, but it may b due 2 the fact i talk alot and fiddle with it in my mouth, but ive bin takin nurofen which is keepin the swellin down. a min ago i tried 2 change the bar(i know its a few days early), cause its 2 big, but now i cant undo the bloody ball, god help me, i think i shud never of had it done, 2 much hassle. and the hole at the top is twice the size it was.

When I had mine done it swelled up for about three weeks.

Then I went out and got really pissed and at some point in the evening the ball came loose and fell off. I had to take the bar out and couldn't get it back in again in the morning.

I've never been bothered to get it done again.

hiya, i eventually managed 2 change it, and luckily its fine now, i love it!
& no 1's noticed @ work yet, thank god.
did u swallow the ball? im scared of doin that! id prob choak 2 death.

I was pissed! I just suddenly stabed the roof of my mouth with the bar, and at the point I realised something was wrong.

jeffery, i think u put a curse on me! i was eatin my brekkie 2 day and the ball came off the top of mine and i swallowed the bloody thing! i had 2 quickly screw another 1 on!

i had my tongue pierced 4 days ago and i phoned my piercist up today cos my tongue appears to be splitting along the middle! he sed it was coz of the swelling and that it wont split but after the call i looked in the mirror and pulledthe split apart and u can see into my tongue, the ball has sunk into my tongue which he sed is normal so im not worried about that, just the splitting!!!! did anyone elses look like there tongue had split?!!!!!(on the top of the tongue!)

nope, i don't remember that, but mine didn't swell up very much/react at all really. I'd phone a piercing place you trust, ask your friends if you know anywhere, or go back to the place you got it done.
