How screwed would I be if I watched Return of the King without ever having watched the first two in advance?

I just happen to have it just for tonight on DVD

    Well, it would be like turning on the TV when a movie's 2 thirds have already been played, and watching the 1/3 that's left.

    I watched this film while drunk, and had more than enough fun laughing at Gandalf. For the life of me, I can't work out why.
