by that i mean this for instance : My pc processor is an amn athlon xp 1700= which is roughly equivalent to a 1.47ghz.
What im wanting to know is how is that differance worked out from 1700= or whatever it might be across to 1.47 ghz or whatever that might be.

I put "2800" and it came back with "2200" when my proc runs at 2100 because it's a barton core :-\

No. An XP 1700+ has the same computational power as an orignal AMD Athlon running at 1700MHz, despite the fact the the XP1700+ runs at only 1470MHz.
