If you are stood by Burger King in central station, facing the departure boards, then turn left, heading for the yellow sign with the big capital M. It's down the steps.

The Sunderland trains run on the yellow line, and the final destination is South Hylton. Journey time about 30 minutes.

The 222 was always my favourite.

I prefered the 21. Having said that I was on the X50 more times than I stayed in college for dinner. It puzzles me why people got the train to newcastle when the bus was far more interesting.

i did get on a 222 with a friend one day who was a new student last year at durham, and they did get scared a few times as the 222 seems to head back towards durham on a number of occasions

It's because the 222 goes up through Hall Lane Estate before dropping down into Houghton.

The 222 and the 220 went past my house.

Simone, I preferred the Arriva buses to Newcastle, because nobody ever caught them.

Ah an Arriva fan eh? Personally I prefer Go North East, simply because they were always cheaper and every time I've had the misfortune to get on an Arriva bus I've always missed my connection.

Go were cheaper (or the day tickets are- Arriva are cheaper on one-off journeys), which is always good, and they went more places.

But Arriva got from Durham faster

Now I have to be a Stagecoach eprson, because that's all we have here.

Are you sure? I recall paying 20p more from Durham - Chester-Le-Street on Arriva.

For the journeys I did they were...must depend on the journey. Though Arriva are now cheaper than Go Durham-Chester.
