Which magazines do you read and why?
I used to buy quite a few: heat, more!, and Cosmopolitan. I realised that most of the time they just print the same kind of things, and are obsessed with celebrities (which I'm not really interested in).
Do you think there's a good choice of magazines for young people or are they all pretty much the same? Which kind of magazine would you like to read?
I would like a magazine for young people about travel, politics, international issues, but written in an interesting way, with photo stories.

because metal hammer is a one of the only ways i can find out about industrial stuff. and because kerrang has pandora and can be funny.
I read a few magazines occasionally, but the only one I regularly read, and actually subscribe to, is Bizarre. Makes me laugh.
And FHM cos of general bloke stuff.
Ditto. I will buy a Gamecube magazine very rarely, because I don't go on shitty games forums anymore, so have no idea when the good games are coming out (which, on the Gamecube, is very rarely).
 ditto.
I don't have the money for one every week
Although when I DO have money, I buy Kerrang, or Q. Or, on occasion, Classic Rock.
Marie Claire is pretty good for that kind of thing.
I love magazines and buy way too many really. I read absolute trash like Take a Break and Chat occasionally. I like to laugh at the chavs and the awful stories.
Cosmopolitan, New Woman and Company are pretty cool. If it's music I buy Future Music or Q. Does anyone remember Select? That used to be a good music mag
I used to get FHM, but I hate it now.
They are polar opposites, as far as I'm concerned.
Yup.
FHM has more blatant sex stuff in it though. Heat just does innuendo.
Does heat actually have articles like other magazines like that, or is it all just "look who used too much fake tan" and "omg, what was Britney wearing when she bought some dog food?"?
Yes, I am being serious.
There's far too much shite like that in it.
There's also too much of Sarah Jessica "I've got a face like a horse and the only person who thinks I'm attractive is myself" Parker and her cronies too.
The interviews are sometimes a laugh, though.
and yes, it's for the fabulous looking women and the gadgets in one or the other
I actually tried to read the articles in Playboy many years ago but they totally went over my head .. so I just stuck to the piccies!!
I get Kerrang every now and then to check up on gig dates and keep up to date with my music.
The Official PS2 Magazine I keep up to date with because I love my games and it comes with a demo disc.
Total Guitar I don't read that much but buy it for the guitar tabs.
Attitude is a very adult and informative gay lifestyle magazine that has interviews with some famous people I am fans of. It also says what's going on in the gay world and is basically a really interesting and enjoyable read.
All the magazines aimed at women my age are either,
a. Based on the assumption that their readers are nymphomaniac professionals,
b. Full of "celeb" gossip and makeup tips (not really me),
c. Full of recipes and knitting patterns.
I read The Independant, but that's not a magazine.
I used to read the New Statesman and The New Scientist but just haven't bought them for a while..been too busy I spose as I have to go into town to buy them.
I used to read She when it espoused the idea that 30 something women aren't all career obsessed. Now it's just another Cosmo clone.
So the only time I really read magazines these days is in the dentist's waiting room.
It's lifestyle/art/music/fashion in a progressive way, and without the "10 signs on him cheating" or "10 easy steps to make him notice you".
it's amazing. chock full of adverts, but all american mags are like that.
I get the ones with the recipes and knitting patterns
So would I probably, BUT, I don't knit (don't have time) and I have like a zillion recipes and any other recipe I could possibly want is on the net! I once bought Woman's Realm by mistake though.
