No its a big load of crap!!!!! Spiritual healers exist just as much as ghosts do.

People that claim to be them have screws loose in there noggin and should go and see a REAL doctor to get help!!

Sad fucks!!

what do you mean by spiritual healing? Stuff like Reiki? I go to a reiki practicioner for my M.E, and i think it's helped, i try to keep an open mind... it could be psychosymatic.

I suppose it being psychosymatic could work for minor illnesses, but you can hardly make the patient believe his cancerous tumour for instance, has magically gone away without any real medical attention.

But you can treat chronic pain with these things - acupuncture, aromatherapy, homeopathy etc...not strictly spiritual healing, but non-orthodox nonetheless.

These things should never be a first-line treatment, not least because practitioners usually have little formal training. But if orthodox medicine can no longer help, then anything is worth a try

Even reiki

it was on kilroy yesterday and the amount of people who had gone to a healer as a last resort had said it helped them although it did not cure them.

i feel that for dangerous depression cases or phsycological complaints it should be offered on the NHS.

So you think everyone should pay in taxes for something which is a load of shite!! Hmmmmm, that makes sense.

Nice idea though, but I would be up in arms if the goverment announced that!

It wasnt even that I was getting at, it was the fact that she thought that "spiritual healing" should be offered on the NHS in which I think there are better methods out there that can be used to cure these problems!!

Thats all

Ah, that's what I thought he said, be re-read it - he's rubbishing the idea of offering this 'spiritual' healing on the NHS for mental health problems.
At least he'd better be.

Well I'm still confused about exactly what you think is a load of shite, but if you were limiting your comments to reiki and other crackpot 'treatments' then I agree.

What im saying my mental illness is the fact that some people can get pain in limbs which they dont have (its mental) many people who go to a spiritual healer feel they have been cured because mentally they believe it. if a doctor thinks/agrees that it has a chance of working surely it would benifit a pateient when nothing else could. For mental illness spiratual healing helps their mind. for bad stress and depression it helps them unwind and relax it is like a councillor but with massage and the rest of the stuff that goes with spiritual healing it is not all floating hands over a body the treatment stretches far beyong how people think. If it WAS proven to work i feel it COULD help i think people should easily access one. im not saying treat cancer and whatever illness you can think of only MENTAL health disorders which will benifit slightly if not loads.

True, but I still dont agree with you thinking it should be put on the NHS. If people seek this kind of treatment then they should go and pay for it themselves, I for one would not be willing to have my taxes raised just for this and am sure there would be alot of people that would agree with me, when the money could be used to better use elsewhere in the NHS or another public service
