Whats the easiest way of gaining weight? im over 6ft and such a skinny lanky git! and it really gets me down and doesnt help with my self confidence. It hasnt particurly hindered my love live or anything but i would much rather be "fatter". I dont have access to a gym as i live miles away from the nearest one and i probably couldnt afford the fees anyway. So what should i do. There is a mcdonalds nearby, should i just commit myself to a lifetime of bigmac meals?

Well, I used to be the scrawny guy in the corner when younger, and now I am the biggest in my year (muscle not fat - although I weigh more than the fat people aswell). I know some of this is due to just growing, but most of this started when I got fed up of beeing skinny. So I started eating lots of healthy food - Lots of Carbs, protein and veg. And taking part in lost of sport and exercise. And after a few years here I am - I admit I also do a lot of weights, but that is aimed more at my sports performance ( I have got into sport in a big way since I started taking part) But as a result I feel far more confident and look it. My advice to anyone who feels small is to eat lots of healthy food and get lots of exercise.
Yes it will be a lot of work, but if you go at it the right way it becomes fun and after a while not only will you put on weight but you will feel more healthy and a more "complete person".
I know it sounds like rubbish but it IS true - it worked for me.
For those that want to know I am currently 13 stone (lost a load due to recent tonsilitus) and have managed to hit 15 stone when at the peak of training
Im 6'2" n i 2 have a lanky "thin" body... i weigh only 10.5 stone! now its not that i dont eat enough- bcos i do... A LOT! i eat everythin in large quantities! i drink a lot of Guiness (as has been recommended!!) as well as other alcoholic beverages... even tried binge drinkin to get the beer belly effect! even with relatively POOR amounts of excercise im still a lanky git! dont get me wrong im not unhappy to the stage of getting "depressed" and i dont feel abnormal... my confidence hasnt been hit either.. its just 'PERSONALLY' i would love to be a little beefier! even if i wanted to be MUSCLY! which im not a big fan of! i couldnt due to the lack of matter to turn to muscle! lets face it i like you my friend have a great matabolism and no matter what u try (like me!) u will not be beefier until ur late into your 20's early 30's. And its a good thing! DONT KILL YOUSELF by having stupid weight gain diets JUST ACCEPT IT AND WAIT IT WILL HAPPEN!!! dont smoke.. that cuts your weight down... and well i suppose thats it! hope it helps. Tchuss. RC
Well, ok, so by not exercising you could try puttibg on weight in the form of flab, but As for wanting to be "muscley" that won't come without exercise. I find it much easily to put weight on in the form of muscle by exercising than putting weight on in the form of flab (seems strange I know)
focus on increasing weight rather than increasing reps as reps build fitness not size
eat plenty, sleep plenty, and most of all enjoy it.
if u have msn, add eddiementhol@marijuana.com and i can help u out in a more detailed way

everybody i know want to lose weight and i need to gain it.
i get so much pressure from my boyfriend to gain a few kgs.
i admit i don't eat as much as i need but the problem is that i don't get along too well with eating!
anybody have a better idea for me?????
When I was 15-16 I was 5'10" and about 135, three to four percent body fat. My doctor told me in no uncertain terms I had to gain weight. (Of course when I was in college I balloned to about 180, but that was all the drinking)
Go to the gym. Often. If you are tall and thin, you likely do not have a genetic predisposition to gaining muscle so you will have to work harder than other guys. Sorry. It can be done. My buddy went to college 6'3" and about 150 lbs, left (the same height, of course) and about 190, mostly muscle. He spent 4 years in the gym, four to five days a week.
Alistair made a good point when he suggested a high protein diet. Try about 80-100 grams per day. If that seems like a lot, remember you can get it in those shakes, or the cheaper way would be to eat a can or two of tuna fish a day. It's almost solid protein.
Try creatine. It only will help you if lift weights, though. You have to drink a RIDICULOUS amount of water when you take it too. I would drink about 1 and 1/2 to 2 gallons of water a day when I took it. It may help, it may not, I've seen studies on both but I know that all of the athletes at my school use it, some of whom become professionals.
I like those shakes.... shame I can't afford the damn things as for the Creatine, as Alex said it may well help - I know people it worked for and then also people it caused problems for - just make sure you read about using it from an independant site (like mine - except it isn't running yet ) as the guidlines the manufactures give you aren't always the best ways (most manfactures recomend taking so much that 3/4s of it is just thrown away in you urine, and can also cause problems.)
