Can you cook!?

I can to a certain extent, if it's something like lasagne or pasta!

I can cook fry ups and pizzas. And most things in the oven. Apart from roasts. I cant really use chip pan fryers or boil things.

I love to cook, I'm great in my own opinion, I don't know what everyone else thinks. I love cooking everything.

Not really, actually, but I think I'd learn quick. Up to now all I can do is warm up already cooked food of almost any kind, and cook pasta (spaghetti, mmm).

Don't you believe it sunshine! :p Delia, or should I say St. Delia will be around long after everyone is saying "Nigella who?!" Her Christmas cake recipe is the best EVER. Her website is pretty good too.

Yes I can cook. Even things like choux pastry and souffles.

Nigella is crap, unless you're one of those types who keeps pumpkin on hand 'just in case.'
Isn't 'delia' going to be in the dictionary now, or am I just becoming more gullible in my old age?

I can cook, although I did rather pathetically, drop last years xmas cake as I was taking it out of the oven. Luckily my foot broke its fall.

Delia Smith is the only TV cook I trust and respect. Her "cooking for dummies"-style programme taught me a lot of little tricks I didn't know.

I can cook really quite well, all in all. I'm no masterchef, and I'd be a bit crap at gourmet meals, but I can cook well enough to live, and varied enough to not die of boredom. And I have a good tutor in t'missus, who is an excellent cook.

my mum lent me delia's 'how to cook' book when i left home, and it was an absolute godsend for those 'how DO you boil an egg?' moments.

nigella is too much faff. i'm never gonna cook myself a gourmet dinner. delia shows me how to cook the stuff i actually like, and cook it well. roast tatties have never tasted so good.

And I hope she bopiled them within an inch of their lives first.

And made sure the fat was hot when they were placed into it.

Well... I hope she didn't boil them TOO much or they'd fall apart before she got them into the roasting tin - but boiling them till they're fluffy on the outside is good.

Change that to Maris Piper, and mix the dripping with vegetable oil, and you are onto something.

I like cooking, but I'm much better at baking than I am at cooking regular meals.

I do a mean Orange and Cointreau crepe and banana cake though. :thumb:

Naah, King Edwards make the best roast potatoes. Never mixed the fat, what's the idea there?

On a tangent, I've just discovered that my 13 year old son makes fantastic cakes! He's only made two and they were both delicious. :yum:

Not mix, because I think it would separate, but a little drizzle works wonders.

My mum is currently head of catering (she's basically a cook but nowadays she has to do the books and order the food and stuff) at a Day Centre for the mentally and physically handicapped (or as the graffiti says, the Retard Club :|), so I've picked up many a tip from her. And we have bookshelves full of cookery books, so we are never stumped for inspiration.
