Jordan: partying while pregnant

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,324 The Mix Honorary Guru
Glamour girl Jordan has been spotted out partying til 3am - while pregnant. The Sun today said "Mums everywhere must be holding up their hands in horror at the sort of antics you would expect from a feckless teenager. What on earth is she doing in smoky clubs when surely she knows the dangers of mixing cigarettes and pregnancy?"

But lets face it, Jordan isn't known for her common sense, is she?

Yeah that is quite bad- but then you get some mums who smoke themselves, drink, take drugs etc. How do you know it was a smoky club? I am not sticking up for her, but it reminds me of Eastenders when Grant went mad at Tiffany cos she had a small glass of wine when pregnant. I *think* it is safe to have a small amount of drink whilst pregnant.

Is there any other kind of club? Besides the quote was from a newspaper, so you can't blame me for inaccuracies.

Well, some clubs with good ventilation, high ceilings, few smokers inside could be argued to be less smoky than the average bus queue, restaurant, house etc.

Lets face it - it's a tabloid, they can take a photo and use it to represent anything they like. If they say she was drinking in a smokey club then thousands will believe it even if it's not true.

I would say papers like that are setting an even worse example by featuring naked women, doing exposes on peoples private lives, and printing the kind of tripe they do.

I feel sorry for Jordan because she is probably more clued up than we all imagine but will never be allowed to reach her full potential.

I agree in part - I think most of the time it's pure denial. I'm no psychologist, but I think it's reasonable to assume that in most cases, the abuse of drugs or alcohol on a regular basis suggests that something else is being shut out. She's the ultimate party girl, and the only thing this baby represents is an end to that lifestyle. Although the way she's going it probably won't live to see birth.

Or it'll be born with mammoth breasts (or bollocks if it's a boy) and come out fag in one hand, champagne cocktail in the other.

I do feel sorry for Jordan (or should I say Katy?), and more so for the poor little love she's carrying.

I agree and disagree with the points raised here!!

I agree that it can be dangerous smoking and drinking to excess when pregnant but just because Jordan was pictured leaving a club at 3am doesn't mean that she was doing anything to harm her baby. Just because she's pregnant doesn't mean she has to stop going out and enjoying herself. If pregnant women listened to all the "don't do this, you can't do that" then they'd be lying in bed for 9 months not allowed to do anything!
Pregnant or not drinking is safe in moderation and even said to be good for pregnant women to enjoy a couple of glasses of wine a week.
I'm sure most of our parents drank when pregnant and we all turned out ok...well..most of us!

At 5 1/2 months pregnant myself, I've got a few points to make.

Since I found out I was pregnant I've been clubbing three times. I made sure I got plenty of rest during the day and had a couple of glasses of wine when I was out. I found that clubs were not smoky at all and I was able to have a good dance with my mates, watch them all get pissed and make tits of themselves and then go home with a pizza (the best part of the night in my opinion!)

I'm a 23 year old girl and more then anything, like to enjoy life. I'll be instilling the same values in my child when it's born. I really don't agree with any of your comments about low self esteem, lack of care, or being in denial. I am counting the days til I meet my baby and can't wait to be a mum. I also don't suffer from lack of self esteem. If you were to ask my wee bud funluvnchic, she would tell you the opposite is probably true! When you become a young mum, you don't have to give up your previous self, you just modify it so that the kid gets the best in life.

It's very easy to get low in pregnancy. Hormones, changes to your body and feelings of isolation from your friends can really get on top of you. You find that people aren't really sure how to treat you. Anything that keeps pregnant wimmin smiling and doesn't harm their babies is more than welcomed and a dance in a club is no more than that.

Everyone seems to be assuming that Jordan was drinking, smoking and taking drugs herself. That is most likely to be bull. Let's face it, no-one would sit back and let someone do that. If I was out with a pregnant mate behaving like that, I would have to have serious words with her.

I would say a far more worrying issue is the fact that she's having her kid live on the net!

Exactly.
She's notorius for being, well, a moron and the press are all just waiting for her to fuck up.
She is more than entitled to do as she pleases (as long as she is responsible in regards to her baby) without people judging her.
If it was anyone else it wouldn't be such a big deal.

i went to a club once and saw a heavily pregnant girl wearing a really tight top it was nasty, mind you it was in one of the towns with one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates in europe nearby

I'm sorry but I really don't agree with that. I pity her, but I seriously doubt she's clued up. This is the girl who has turned herself into a cartoon. If you look at past pictures of her, she is soooo pretty. Now, she looks like a blow up doll.
I'm not against pregnant women having fun-I don't believe that just because you're going to have a baby you should be in your house 24/7 for 9 months. My aunt did that and as soon as her baby boy was born she got post natal depression.
But I really do not like Jordan. She's made a mockery out of herself, and in the process has turned into a hard drinking party girl. The woman wants to have her baby on pay-per-view live internet for Christs sake! Doesn't that tell you something???

Going out is fine but drinking is another thing. Does she not think of the damage she is doing to her unborn baby? Has she not heard of Foetal alcohol syndrome?
• Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,324 The Mix Honorary Guru
Excessive intake of alcohol during early pregnancy causes this condition.

(from the link posted above)

This may be true, but it's also a fact that a huge percentage of pregnancies are not planned. It is very common in early pregnancy, while many women are not aware they are expecting, to drink excessively.

Who says Jordan is drinking? You are all speculating. I'd say the chances are she isn't. She certainly looked very healthy in the pic in the paper.

I don't particularly like Jordan, but she doesn't deserve to be critisised when she is doing nothing wrong. Pregnancy is difficult enough without everyone commenting on every action you do.

Methinks it would have helped Jordan if she hadn't established herself as a party girl in the first place.
You say she's doing nothing wrong? Not only is she setting a bad example to young girls, she is endangering her own life and that of her baby. She is seriously damaging her baby by drinking as she does. In moderation, a drink during pregnancy is fine, but she's abusing that.
Mind you, I'll give her this-she's not doing drugs as well.

She's a glamour model. She appears a lot in the Daily Star (sleazy tabloid newspaper) on page 3.

Incidentally to end all speculation, the report did say she wasn't drinking. However, staying up 'til 3am while pregnant can't be good. And when the baby is born she'll have enough sleepless nights without going out partying so she'll really need to lay off then.

I have alot of sympathy for jordan, she's just a normal girl who wanted fame, now she's got it she can't hack it. Everybody think of your life now, the things you do, i bet alot of you would be tabloid stories on occasions, getting really pissed, drugs, dodgy relationship issues, using internet sites like these - you'd be made mince meat for any of these 'offences'.

Some of it she brings on herself, granted, she's not the brighteset tool in the box, nor does she claim to be and why she insists on boob jobs is beyond me, she was a babe once you know

Did anyone see her on Frank Skinner last year ? for the one and only time in my life i saw jordan the person, not jordan the picture and for those who didn't see it, she's a very mixed up, insecure individual. She hasn't a friend in the world, she is used by a string of blokes and portrayed as a national disgrace. She is a bomb waiting to explode, she really wants to be loved and liked and craves attention.

Her way of finding such things isn't the right one and i think she knows it, but she's stuck in a vicious circle - i have no doubt whatsoever her pregnancy is a) an attempt to trap a bloke into loving her b) a desperate attempt at been wanted and loved

I feel wrong writing this, because alot of it is clearly going to be flamed down, but she is just so mixed up its untrue and i think its a real shame she is used as a tool for the tabloids to amuse the nation.

If you didn't see the interview you won't understand what i mean.

But go easy on her, if she walked to the local shop and back the tabloids would twist into a national scandal, nobody knows what she was doing out, but i'm dam sure nobody expects pregnant women to lie in bed for nine months.

The tragedy is, if this baby doesn't work for her i genuinely feel she will kill herself, thats the mind frame she is in, its sounds far fetched, but i promise thats the reality

I for one wish the media and gossipers would leave the poor las alone for a bit to sort out her life, hell she needs it

She is a typical english girl with severe problems, trouble is in her case its played out in the national media for all to analyse.

I wonder why she doesn't just throw in the towel and retreat to her new contryside house for good, she maybe bought it for that reason, but i imagine letting go of the celebrity lifestyle must be difficult, especially as its all she has.

What do you mean 'drinking as she does' ? how the hell do you know how she drinks ? this is the trouble, you read it some paper and its gospel, the girl has no chance

Personally I think Jordan is full of shit. I watched her on frank skinner (think it was on there anyway lol) and she was saying how she wouldnt breast feed her baby coz her boobs had gone through enough already.

I think that really selfish as feeding your baby should be a prioroty over a boob job any day! Admitedly I bottle fed Liam but that was for the simple fact Im 19 and didnt feel comfotable with it, also as I had a cesarean and got an infection after.

I will say though that I went clubbing up untill about 8 months pregnant. despite not being able to drink or consume anything and feeling like a fat bloater just wanting to go to bed, I know if I hadnt gone out occasionally Id have gotten really depressed.

Being pregnant is pants and I dont blame her for having a social life coz sitting on your arse for nine months does your head in! However drinking excessivly or taking drugs is wrong, but just coz it was in the paper dont mean its actually true!

Yes, I did say she was doing nothing wrong. Quite simply because I didn't beleive she was drinking. There may be photos of ther in the paper looking like shit. Well pregnancy is damn tiring and we can all take dodgy photos. That combined with the amount of makeup Jordan wears to these clubs can cause the 3am pisshead look.

I agree with Eb, I think she is a potentially good person who has made a lot of wrong decisions. She is a lonely, unloved woman and has been carved into a scapetgoat of our nation.

Jordan needs a good friend to talk some sense into her about her lifestyle chioces, but unfortunately she doesn't seem to have that.

I also agree with Ebs comments on the tabloids. They can twist pics and stories so much that a trip to Adsa can be made into a major story. And there are so many seemingly innocent things I have done which they could have a field day printing if I was a celeb.

I think she's like a less classy Marylin Munroe and we all know what happened to her.

Everybody's different in this life... some people I know drank and smoked (hash) right through their pregnancies. It's selfish..but that was their choice and I didn't judge them and people should not be judging Jordan either. Like Eb said I think the girl is just very messed up and has let herself become exploited and it's sad to see people taking the piss. Like on the Frank Skinner show but the problem is she leaves herself wide open to it (in more ways than one ). She was wearing a very short skirt at that interview and she asked Frank if he could see her knickers and he said "with a skirt that short I can see the baby's head". Sometimes I think that she's asking for it really but that's just my opinion. Anyway on the issue of pregnancy the way I see it is that you've got a defenceless human being inside you whose life depends on you. It's only nine months out of your whole life. Nine months without a drink or smoke wouldn't kill anyone. But that's just my view. It doesn't mean that you have to stop going out and enjoying yourself but it is a balls watching everyone else getting stoned or pissed around you. Fuck it plenty of time for that at weekends once the baby's born. That's another thing, I guarantee you that when she has the baby the press will be on her tail 24/7 and the minute she goes for a night out, which everyone needs, it will be front headlines for a week branding her unfit etc. Having a baby doesn't mean that you have to become a fucking recluse, you still have to have a life of your own beyond the baby otherwise you'd go insane, it's just being able to recognise your limits...

i think the way she has made her slef out to be has dug hr into a deep hole, she has lost all self respect and the repect of the public , but who are we to call her an unfit mother? , who knows maybe we will all be amazed by a complet turn around as we sit back and wtch her take responsibilty fir herself and the child.

We should perhaps have more contemt for the father who has run as fast as he can in the opposite direction, failed to even support the mother of his child and spread gossip and lies about her in the papers. Nice situation for the baby to be born into - don't you think.
Imagine in years to come when the child asks "Dad...where were you when mum was pregnant, why didn't you want to be there for my gestation and birth...?"

Can i just discard any illusions about non smoky clubs. The area that Jordan goes out in is called Croydon in South London. I was born and raised here and have not yet seen any non smokey pubs/clubs! I have seen Jordon a few times though, hanging around with Dane Bowers outside Mc cluskys, and she does look a state everytime! I can't really believe from what i have heard that she is taking good care of her kid. But Fair Play to her, shes having a good time, but she's taking a hell of a risk.

like any mother to be, if she truely loved and wanted that baby, she would do her best not to harm it in anyway.Going out til all hours etc doesnt really show that she wants it.
I fear for that child as its mother is using it as a pure publicity stunt, just to benefit her.

This thread is beginning to get on my nerves. Going out has not been linked in any way whatsoever to harming an unborn baby. In actual fact sociaslising has a positive impact on mums to be as they feel less isolated and there is less chance of developing ante-natal or post-natal depression.

Inactivity has been linked to traumatic births and increased need for ceasarean sections, putting both mum and baby at risk.

And who the hell gave anyone the right to say someone doesn't love and want her baby? Such a suggestion is malicious, downright nasty and at present unjustified. No-one knows how Jordan will be toeards her baby until it is born.

I feel really strongly about 17 year olds discussing matters that they really don't have the life experience to comment on.
