...But I'm sure there was a Cindy... And I'm sure she was 10x better than 'Sindy' - Having tested both of them myself.
Hmm, to be honest Im not really sure why so many girls like horses.
*sits in corner quite offended*
I never had my own horses as a kid, infact i didnt have lessons; I worked on saturdays at a stables and learned that way(from early secondary school age) - helping in lessons etcetc. It was great fun what with all the other stable girls and free lessons for our hard work.
And if your saying cas "daddy" didnt pay £3000 a month stable fees that i must look like a horse...well now il send you a pic and you can decide for yourself  lol
if you ask me theres nothing better than being able to climb on a horse and gallop around with the wind in your face. Thats heaven to me...but havent been riding for ages cas of college/work... you guys should try it one day - you never know you might *actually* enjoy it and realise why so many females like riding (not that kind of riding you dirty-minded people i mean horse back riding!)
same. i begged my parents for a pony for years, and for years they told me where to go. in the end i managed to wangle some lessons out of them. that was as far as it got.
and no, i don't look like as horse. in fact, you'll usually find it's the daddy's girls that look like horses.
why do girls like horses? cause they are huge, strong, beautiful creatures who do what you tell them to (usually), which is a lot more than can be said for spotty pre-pubescent boys. do you blame them?
Yep, was definitely Sindy rather than Cindy!
Want to try a new stereotype, that ones a bit old.
Can't answer for anyone else but horse riding for me is an adrenaline rush that i won't find anywhere else. You put in the hard work and effort and get rewarded by having a loving animal who you work with to get maximum results, whether it's in competition work or just hacking. It's managed to rid me of a lot of fears i'll say that. Some things pale in comparison to jumping 3 1/2 foot hedges.
Must be a country person thing though as it's pretty normal to ride/own a horse round here. A high percentage of blokes own/ride horses or work in some part of the equine trade round here as well.
Exactly.
Boys don't like horses cause they don't want to bond with an animal
And you don't necesserally have to be loaded to have a horse, my parents hated the idea of me having a horse, so I do pay for most of the equipment and other fees myself - fair enough I share my horse, so stabling is a lot cheaper, but take a look at the price of fancy clothing/hats/body armour etc  thats when you need to be stinking rich!
the donkey falls down the fuckin' pit and can't climb out.
chick runs off to the farmyard and gets the farmers shiny new bmw ...grabs a rope and goes back to rescue her donkey.
ties the rope to the motor ...donky grabs the other end ...chick pulss donley out.
the next week ...pised again ...the chick falls down the pit ...screaming ...'go and get the farmers shiny new bmw and pull me out'!
the donkey calmly straggles the pit and lowers his nob down ...
the moral of this story is ...if your hung like a donkey you don't need no big shiny car to pull the chick.
/end stereotype
From what I've seen here in Iceland, men and women seem to ride equally much, but the men focus a lot more on competing and how well bred or good looking the horse is. Women tend to have more interest in the company of the animal itself. They grow closer to the horse and just like to spend time with it.
I used to love everything horses. When I actually got the chance to spend a lot of time in horse manure my outlook changed a lot over time. Now I don't like horses just because they're horses, now I like a challenge, something that keeps me occupied and is rewarding at the same time.
Horses help me relax, horses keep me company, they are a hobby, they helped me overcome depression, etcetc...
And now I'm all sad because I haven't been able to ride for about three years. :P
Spoilt little daddy's girls tend to have 'ready made', well bred perfect horses because they do cost a lot of money to buy and keep. However There are other people who have horses and put a lot of work into them and love them to bits...these people do not fall into that stereotype.
Why do girls like horses? I'm not entirely sure. I know that for me it is the adrenalin rush that other people have mentioned. I love animals anyway though so having a beautiful creature to look after is heaven for me. If I've had a bad day and I need to get away from it all I can happily saddle up my horse and ride for an hour and when I've finished I'm usually much more chilled out.
Boys don't often ride because it's seen as a girls sport...simple as that. If a bloke actually tried it and felt the same adrenalin rush they'd probably be hooked too but it's just not the norm.
I dream of a handsome prince on his white stallion whisking me away to his kingdom. We can all dream
Does the smell rub off on the rider?
Hey, at least they don't have the most dreaded smell ever...wet dog. When my mutt's been in the river or even in the bath, the smell permeates everything and everyone and won't budge for ages. Ick.
yep and you let the dog in the house.
Wet horse doesn't smell too nice either but atleast it isn't leaving it's scent all over my sofa
haha no I haven't seen the second one yet
You dissin' my baldy-nut? I have a not so secret crush on him.
Not Phil though...I do have some standards
Still, there's a lot of people who can't afford that.
there are ways around it.
you can part loan a horse with a person who can afford it, do all the dirty work and reap all the benefits.
or you can work your ass off as a free stablehand every spare hour of the week, and get all the free riding you like.
when i rode, none of the people i went with were rich. there were a few that were not poor, and could afford weekly lessons, but most came from run of the mill, working class families. they rode their bike to the stable if their families didn't have a car, or they walked. they helped out in return for a free lesson.
all the rich people had their own ponies in their back gardens, with grooms and stablehands to do all the work for them.
the rest of us worked 8am - 7pm saturday for a ride on a scratty 22-year-old pony with an attitude problem.
