Cheque, Postal Order, or NoChex. Not too sure about PayPal, but will sign up for an account sometime no doubt as so many people use it.

paypal take from the person recieving the money, i.e if you send £10 they take about 2.5%, the person selling the item may reject the payment and ask you to pay for the paypal commision, or he/she may be generous and just accept the payment less the 2.5%

paypal are a lot safer since the creation of paypal europe.

it used to be that their protection rules only applied to the US. now they apply to us too. yay and stuff.

paypal is perfectly safe if you're the buyer. if you're the seller it can be a bit dodge, but as long as you're sensible, it's fine.

and fees only to the seller, and then only on credit card transactions. if you have a balance on your account, they don't charge.

ive used paypal, nochex, and cheques in the past to pay for stuff on ebay.
The only problem ive had with paypal is transferring paypal funds into my bank account, but thats when Ive been the seller. Its been fine when ive used it to pay for things.
    I prefer Nochex though.

nochex are safer, easier to use and better, but you can only use it within the UK, and most of my transactions are international.

    so paypal by necessity.

If you receive money they will charge you 3.4% of the price + 20p. Most sellers ask you to pay this fee on top of what you're paying for the item.

When you sign up for Paypal they deduct two small amounts (always less that £1) from your card / bank account so that you can enter the transaction numbers to verify your account once you receive your bank statement. This is for security purposes.

I mainly use cheques but have used paypal for about four things just as I couldn't be bothered to do a cheque! These have been things where they don't charge extra for paypal-some ebayers charge an extra 30p when I win off them so I do cheque as stamp is less. I do charge 30p extra if they use paypal but my first couple I didn't.

I've had a cheque lost and I had one from a seller get lost so cheques have been in my 48 complete sales/buyings 2 have been lost.
