presents for lads

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
In a few months me and my boyfriend will of been together for a year. I want to either do or buy him something special. Has anybody got any ideas. Lads are so hard to buy for. The only ideas I can think of, i've already done for his birthday.
For the girls, if it was you what would you buy your boyfriend or what have you bought your boyfriend.
For the lads, what would would you like to be bought if it was you.
I know you don't know him so it's a bit difficult for you to tell me but he's a typical male so anything to do with football, alcohol etc he would love. But then that wouldn't really be anything new. He's so awkward. I can't ask him what he wants because I want it to be a suprise. Any suggestions are welcome.

I'm probably not going to be much help, but for my ex's 21st I bought him a gold chain necklace, for Xmas I bought him theatre tickets, boxers & I took him out for a meal. For our 1yr I didn't actually get round to buying him anything before we split up but he took me out for a meal & paid for my tattoo.

I know what u mean though, I hate buying for blokes. It always takes me ages to figure out what to buy them!

its always risky buyin jewellry or clothes unless u know exactly what he likes-- same with girls i think-- a cool dinner out or somethin- maybe organise a party in the pub or sometin like that-- should b a safer bet

it would be nice to get him something that he can keep, taking him out for a meal is nice, but not as special as something that he can have forever. maybe you could get him something engraved in a glass shop or something like that. then in the years to come he can look back at it and think of you. it might not be his kind of thing though, but you could take him out for a meal as well? just get him soemthing to remind him of you.

blokes are real pains to buy for arent they! why is that? girls are really easy to chose stuff for but blokes are a nightmare to buy prezzies for!

That would be a good idea. Not sure what I would get engraved though. A beer glass would be ok because he seems to live off the stuff. I might have to start a conversation about what kind of stuff he would like and then try to adapt it into something suitable. Not sure how i'll bring it up without him guessing i want to buy him something.
it's frustrating me now. I've also got his 21st birthday to think about not so long afterwards aswell. He's a nightmare.

For our one year anniversary I bought him a CD.

For our two year anniversary I bought him tickets to see a football match.

For our three yer anniversary I bought an unfinished frame and painted it, stuck a pic of the two of us in it. It took me ages, but he liked it best out of the three. Depends how close you are too one another tho!

I just got my boyfriend a Barometer because last week he said he'd like one... He went and he took it back and used the money to buy jeans...

Moral - if a bloke mentions he'd like something it aint always true!

I also got him a ticket to Glastonbury - needless to say he hasn't traded that in.

I'd get him tickets to something because if the gig is a while away you kind of have the present twice, once when he opens it and then again on the day of the gig.

Everyone but you! I have been all over town today and looked in every shop apart from the early learning center and found something for my boyfriend. whoever said men are easy to buy presents for should be shot
