Modern Feudalism

A quote from other topic:

State law is over ruled by National law which is in turn over ruled by international law, thats how it works. So, what we need to do is sneek a bit about gay marriage into an international treaty which the US signs.
It’s fine.
UN commands EU obeys; EU commands UK obeys; London commands Edinburgh obeys; Edinburgh commands Aberdeen obeys… so on.
An average Joe who is at the end of this chain must obey these all power-lusting bastards from Koffi Anand to a local major…
And socialists call this feudal system “democracy” that is “power of people” ( of this Joe for example).
Are they kidding? Does anybody here think it is a just system?
Beep boop. I'm a bot.

You seem to have a weird understanding of what socialists believe.

    Yes, please.

We are opposed to US steel tariffs and trying to overturn them in the WTO, etc.

Why do you see the others as the US "commanding" us to do? They seem to be mutually beneficial to me.

Except for middle East policy and I don't see how we follow US "commands" us on that either- in fact it has little or nothing to do with us.

    Let me elaborate then:

-Steel tariffs: now finally lifted, these were illegal and unfair taxes put on European steel imports to the US by the unilateral and bullying Republican government. Blair didn't say much of anything about them, even though the British steel industry suffered greatly as a result (probably more than any other European country actually), and it took the threat of retaliatory tariffs by the EU for Bush to see sense. So thank heavens for the EU, and shame on our poodle of a PM who does not dare raise any objections to the Americans.

    - Missile Shield: the Americans are pressing ahead with their utterly pointless Star Wars defence shield. They asked Britain to host the early listening stations (which would make Britain the very first target of any attack against the Shield) and yet we won't be protected by it. Blair duly obliged with the American requests.

    - Joint Striker fighter programme: Even though we're the main partners of the US on this project (and we get to cough up billions of Pounds) we don't get a say on key design and weaponry systems, to the despair of our armed forces. Again, Blair has not dared to demand a more active role.

    - Nuclear deterrent: incredibly, the Americans hold key technological know-how and share launch codes for much of our deterrent. Which more or less means we would need them to fully deploy our nuclear weapons if the need arises. Some independence.

    - Middle East policy: to the utter despair of the diplomatic community, Blair has abandoned Britain's long-held position that a full Israeli withdrawal from Palestine is imperative, and gone with Bush's support for a 'partial' withdraw only. Yet again, a case of not having the balls to stand up for one's country so not to upset our masters.

    - Illegal detainment of British citizens: as more evidence emerges that systematic abuse and torture of prisoners has been carried out by the Americans not only in Iraq but also in Guantanamo, Blair has consistently failed to demand all British citizens detained there illegally are either released or transferred to Britain for trial here. It seems that under Blair one no longer can rely on his country to look after him when being mistreated, illegally held and tortured. Just so we don't upset our 'ally'.

Short of being sodomised by Bush on public television, I doubt Blair could be any more of a puppet to the mad Texan.

The fact that Truffaldino from Downing Street tries to serve two masters doesn’t make him more ( nor less) bastard. This just makes him a smart bastard.

Luke i suggest you read up on the EU before you start making statements which you cant back up.

Try going to the libary or use the net.

    Are just some examples above

Broadsheet Newspapers are good the Times and Guardian for example and they have online pages which are quite good

    Also use the BBC website

From 47th chapter of a textbook “Ancient Northern European History” published by G&G co. Educators, (HistoryBooksFor FamilyReadingSeries). Pekingwill, Mars, 2457.
“ This country named Britney was liberated from its people twice; first by Billy The Liberator ( Duke of Normandy) in 1066 then by Tony The Liberator (Minister of Brussels) in 2005 (this great hero also liberated other countries as Iraq). Since the time the country is known under the name ‘European Socialistic Republic of Englishdownside’)”.
