Facial solarium

Hey!
Ive just bought a facial solarium, but although i havent used one before it doesnt feel very hot when i use it so it cant be doing its job? i was just wondering whether it is supposed to be not very warm? Also has anyone used one of these but stopped because they could see it causing damage?

    Ages ago my mum bought one and she fell asleep with it on. And got third degree burns on her face. :( It was her own fault but jut be careful. I haven't ever used one before but make sure your wear lotion so your skin tans evenly.
