Those in the North East will be aware of the long-running pay dispute between the two most greedy and obnoxious trade unions- the RMT and Amicus- and Nexus, operator of the Metro.
Basically what it boils down to is that Nexus offered a fair and reaonable pay rise- agreed through ACAS- which the greedy unions rejected, saying that it was an insult to their members. What is the real insult is not the pay offer, but the fact that the strikers cannot be sacked because of their greed. Showing no regard for anyone but themselves- as always- they have been striking this weekend, bringing the North East to a standstill because of the timing of their strikes. Since Friday the Metro has been running a severely disrupted service- when there has been one at all- and what is the extent of the compassion to the travelling public from these unions?
This from a union who RUINED people's Christmas shopping by striking every Saturday up to Christmas.
All they care about is themselves, there is no regard at all for the travelling public, the people who will ahve to foot the bill for their grotesque demands. When the demand is fair- such as with the AUT or the FBU- then I support industrial action, but the RMT and Amicus are notorious for being greedy, lazy, overpaid tossers.
If I had my way every single one of the drivers who is striking would be sacked- after all, if they don't like the job, there are plenty of otehr people who would be delighted to do it.

We have to remember this is not a tea party, we are in an industrial dispute.

anyway, ffs no offence but they're train and bus drivers, how much do they think they deserve to get paid?
I am asking because I don't know the details of this particular case but what I know is that the word 'greed' is associated with firms' CEOs and shareholders much more easily and accurately than with blue collar workers or unions.
Nexus is a public company, it is the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Executive, funded by the five councils of Tyne and Wear, i.e. the passengers they are fucking over. Nexus made a serious loss last year, due to extensions.
£26,000 is not a great pay compared with similar positions down South, but that's the way things are. I must admit though that 5.5% rise is not a bad offer. How much are the unions demanding?
How much do the bosses get?
You also have to remember that a crummy terraced house up here still only costs in the region of £60,000 whilst the same house in sarf landan might cost upwards of £150,000.
A pint of Stella may cost a geordie about £1.80. last time I looked Wetherspoons in London were charging at least £2.50.
£26,000 a year is a lot of money, and it's certainly more than i expected a bus driver to be getting, especially as research scientists at universities are on about the same amount.
facist
Especially as the transport workers he is on about get paid more than police officers and research scientists anyway, i think we have every right to call them greedy bastards.
.
Well, I'm sure that they have the total support of the local Royal College of Nursing then...
are you qualified to use any statement, traditionally trade unions are left wing, facism is to the extreme right, i was taking the piss, sorry if you got confused
That's not really the point, is it?
Nastroman: what the AUT are doing is a complete arse, but I think that they are asking for a reasonable pay increase, so I support them. It was the same with the FBU last year.
Turlough: What's a facist? You can't mean fascist, because the word has no relevance to complaining about greedy bastards screwing me over whilst demanding exuberant amounts of my money.
Aladdin: The unions aren't being forthcoming with the figure, but originally they demanded 5.5% backdated, with a slight redeuction in the working week. Nexus agreed to this, and the unions then moved the goalposts.
Hitler got rid off all trade unions and made up governemt type unions, he was a facist, and most right wingers (thatcher) try to privatise everything, i culdn't give a shit about trade unions, i was simply taking the piss.
next to humourous remarks to avoid confusion.
I HATE YOU!
See? It works
why did you consult the dictionary to look up facism?
trade unions are seen as political opposition, they certainly have power, it seems that unions are the anti-thesis of facism, what were you on about?
Yes it is, its entirely the point. You rarely seeing bosses getting laid off, having to take paycuts or being denied wage increases do you?
Maybe you need a dictionary. The term is "fascist".
Nobody is making these greedy bastards take a pay cut
I'm not saying they are.
Anyway - how much do the bosses get?
I don't know, I don't think it's that much. Certainly not compared to similar positions in the private sector.
But then again, the bosses wage doesn't have make any difference to how greedy the RMT are being. The RMT AGREED a deal, then reneged on it, screwing the people who pay their wages into the ground.
But maybe I'm just an unreconstructed lefty.
It's just a pity that the Nazis were extremely left wing in their policies, or you may have a point.
Why do you think the correct term for Nazi is National Socialist...?
Hitler made sure there was full employment, excellent free hospitals before the UK had the NHS, and ensured that all children were in school and college education. He would have made an excellent home secretary or prime minister. it's just a pity his foreign policy was a bit crappy.
Oh dear.
And Mussolini got the trains running on time.
Well done Whowhere its about time someone told us the truth about Hitler, such a misundertood and lovable type of guy, did you know he was also a vegetarian and loved children? Well not all children but hey whats a few million subhumans eh?
Its refreshing to think that our nations police officers hold such balanced and educated views, I for one shall sleep safe tonight knowing your out there.
Yours Truly
BA
So, are you suggesting that everything he did was bad then?
Actually it refreshing to see that our Police sometimes see more than just the bad in a person...
Just because he can see some of the benefits which Hitler brought to Germany doesn't make him a Nazi.
Hitler brought benefits to some of Germany but only at the expense of Jews and other minorities, trade unionists, left-wingers, communists, Christians, the disabled, half of Europe etc etc etc
Actually I find it depressing if Whowhere or anyone else cannot see that.
