Mum walking in

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I like a bit of privacy to 'view' certain things on my PC but my mum keeps on walking in. My room is really big so she puts the clothes horses in here and that means she constantly comes in here. The thing is, everytime she comes in o speak to me she stares at the PC screen. She once got drunk and started on about how I should be careful on the web and stuff and I can understand this. She 'caught me in the act' once and every now and then she comes in here as if to try and catch me out. I'm sick of having my heart in my mouth all the time. What can I do o get a bit of privacy? I put a bolt on the door when she was out once and she came back and told me never to use it because it's a fire hazard so that's that fucked. All I want is a bit of privacy and apart from telling her to "Fuck off and let me jack off in peace" I can't do a thing.

I have the same problem & I swear my mum thinks i'm plotting a terrorist attack to blow up the world or something when i'm really just looking at a bit of harmless porn :)

I don't think she gets the whole boys & their need to wank :D But love, sex & different sex relationships are non-existent in my family.

    .:Crispy:.

Tellng her to knock sounds best-
Or you could put something accidently against the door or in the hallway so you'll hear her coming, a lock makes it like trhere ius something to hide!
Or you could try rearanging the PC to obstruct viewing- back to wall and that

My pc is in my parents room so they are constantly coming in and my dad likes to sit and stare at whatever i'm looking at so i jus put a blank screen on til he goes. Also I can't keep personal photos on there cos he looks for things and i have to delete my history cos he checks that aswell.

can't you set up your own user account so that when you turn on the computer you have to type in a password to access yours.

i guess im lucky, my mum and dad respect my privacy not just on the computer but even in my cupboards and stuff... they say they have no right to go rooting through my stuff the same as i dont have a right going through there stuff so they never really go into my room

well if you did have your own user account you could say that you have it because you like to personalise it, ie. own desktop picture and icons and stuff!
and if your dad asks if you're hiding something act all offended and say "what are you trying to imply dad?!" and if he explains tell him not to be sick ;)

also jazza, why don't you have an innocect screen ready that you can maximise when she walks in..like a news page or something.

and you could pretend to be all upset that you feel like your room isn't your own anymore, and so she should knock in future. at least then you're giving her an innocent reason as to why she should respect your privacy.
